Resident 2006 - 2010

6/1/2010

I lived here with my husband for over 3 years--the only reason we left was that his job moved out of state. We loved it. We had a gorgeous view of the hill country from our balcony; it was like a little retreat from the world. Ceramic tile in the kitchen and bathrooms is nice---and they put in new carpets when we moved in (that was 10/2006). We lived on the third floor and we never heard any of our neighbors--not even a peep. When we first moved in there was an insane lady below us who complained that we "were moving in too loudly." (?!) She was really crazy and complained all the time. (I bet one of the negative reviews is hers... her husband apologized for her and told us she had some sort of health issues.) But, we were really thankful because the apartment refused to renew her lease--so she was only there for our first few months. All of our other neighbors have been awesome--they are all older, business people who have lived here since the apartment was built. Very nice, quiet neighbors. I never had any problem finding parking--and you don't have to pay extra to park in the covered parking. They are very pet-friendly which we liked cause we have a puppy. (And most people are good about cleaning up after their dogs...) The location is very safe--its a nice part of town and is isolated so you don't have random cars going thru or anything. Getting in can be a bit of a pain because their isn't a light--but, we just went up a little and turned around at the light where the Methodist church is located. The traffic at the Y is the biggest drawback... but, we always felt like the secluded feeling we got from the woods and view of the hill country made it worth it. The staff--especially Jan--are WONDERFUL. They know your names and are super-friendly. More than once she held the office open late for us so we could pick out a movie (they have free movies you can watch--with a different selection every few weeks.) They have treats in the office for your dog--so, when you get your mail, you can stop by with your dog and say hi. I've lived in apts since I left for college ten years ago and this apt was my best experience. The rooms are big and the closets are MASSIVE--you could almost use them as another room. Our 2/2 had over 1000 square feet--and that is way bigger than some of the places up Mopac... I personally think our floor plan (the Tuscany) was by far the best one. I loved all the windows and light. Depends on what you are looking for I guess--this isn't a party place. I think this place is better for young professionals (both my husband and I have graduate degrees.) If you want a nice, quiet retreat with older neighbors--try it out. But, if you want someplace close to campus with easy access to 6th St-- Vineyard Hills is not your home. Miss you Vineyard Hills!
