As a two year resident here I feel like I need to put my two cents in. I have read the reviews. First I have been nothing but felt taken care of. The former manager is no longer here. The people who were evicted (as I read in one review ) were not paying rent or had many complaints against them. I was relieved when they cleaned house. I know all of my neighbors and have made very good friends here. The social directors of the building are wonderful, know everyone, and put on great events a couple of times a month. You always feel taken care of by them and as a person who moved back to Dallas after living in New York, Sydney and L.A. it was the way I created a new social circle in Dallas.
When I had a leak in my apartment I called management and there was someone at my door to fix it within minutes. They had to redo my kitchen wall and offered me the model apartment during renovations so I would not have to deal with the hassle. It was done in two days...and very well by the way. The new manager is wonderful, I love the office staff who I always chat with when I'm coming back in the building after walking my dog. I am not overcharged on my bill. . I just want to say DP & L flats is a community of people and staff who care for each other. I know everyone who works here by name as well as my neighbors. I could not be happier. So if I were you I would come on down cause its great. The pool area is amazing and I do live over it with a balcony. I f I ever have a complaint I can call the 24 hour hotline and complain but I've never had to do that. Anyway, I say if you are thinking of moving downtown you should give this historic building a shot.
