Resident 2011 - 2012

7/5/2012

I moved in around November 2011 and while it's not the most ideal neighborhood for me, it's adequate for its price. We recently got a new manager here and while she was very friendly when I first signed the lease that changed once she learned that I would not be renewing it. Lunch break times shift around to where I would just avoid any times between 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Maintenance seems to be just fine and the man is very helpful and friendly though have only needed him once. There was one time in the summer or 2011 in which the ac units for the entire complex needed to be replaced and that took near a month if not a little over because they had to place a special order on the parts. I would like to say that while other posts have commented on roaches, I personally have never had any run-ins with them. I don't know if I just got lucky or if it has to do with the location of my apartment though. The most important thing I feel that should be mentioned is the parking. It is awful. There are no longer any compact parking like another poster had mentioned, but there are large trucks everywhere and some pretty poor park jobs all around. Also, I don't believe that it's only one car per apartment, as both me and my roommate have parking permits, but maybe they make exceptions or something. Visitor parking is also pretty bad though it feels like they have more space to park than the residents at least. There are less than 10 spots for visitors to park and if they park across the street in the lot that is always empty, they risk getting towed which brings me to my next complaint: towing. Since November I have gotten my car towed 3 times. First time it was because they were restriping the resident parking lot and blocked off a section and asked those residents to park in the visitors lot and have all the visitors park in the empty lot that was owned by Radisson. I park in visitors and I come out in the morning to find them also restriping the visitors lot with my car gone. I reread the notice that they had given us prior and it did not say anywhere that they were restriping the visitors lot. It didn't matter though. I had to drive all the way down to NW Dallas to retrieve my car and pay $170 to get it out. The other two times, though annoying, can not be blamed entirely on The Fountains of Jupiter besides the fact that parking sucks. Overall, this place is a decent place to live if you're on a budget. It's by no means stellar or luxurious. It's usually not too noisy though the pool area can sometimes be loud in the summer, but what can you expect? It's right next to 635, neighbors are friendly enough and most people keep to themselves, and it's affordable.
