Resident 2002 - 2003

Maintenance? ... What maintenance?

I picked the apartment when i was in denton for two days from out of town before transferring to go to college. Looked OK for the price, but dead wrong. I called maitenance the day after i moved in because the pantry door knob was stripped and once closed had to be pried open with a knife. After months of calling and still not getting fixed, I eventually just taped it so it wouldnt close completely. My screen door for the balcony not only has holes in it but has been off the tracks and laying against the railing of the balcony since about a month after i moved in. My bedroom window has about a one inch gap because it wont close completely. The ceiling leaked every time it rained. There were odd stains running down my bedroom wall which I´m still not sure what they are. I also called shortly after moving in about my garbage disposal not working... to this day i still have no working garbage disposal. They replaced my door frame and there are nasty dirty finger prints on the white paint surrounding the molding (and the molding also never got painted so its still just a natural wood while every other wall and baseboards are white). Bad insect problems also. There are SWARMS of bees and wasps. The wall of the apartment across from my balcony has tons of bees congregating there. I thought it was where paint or molding had peeled off until i realized it was ALIVE and moving. Wasps nests are all over the place and not only that I found rodent droppings in my pantry and cabinets. I called the leasing office about the rodents. Took them three days to come and put poison down which they just stuck below the front door (as if thats going to kill the ones already IN my apartment) My boyfriend and i decided to get traps and have since caught two mice. Everytime i took a shower i heard a loud banging on my door. Always ended up being my neighbors or "maintenance" banging on my door because the people that lived below me had water literally POURING into their apartment. And on top of it all, if i had chosen to renew my lease for another 6 months or a year, rent would have gone up for a 1 bedroom from $485 a month to $515. Lovely. I would rather beg on the streets for money to stay in a shelter than stay in this dump.
