Villas at Parkside
Prospective Resident • 2007 Not Recommended
I visited Villas at Parkside and eventually spoke with Julie, the Sales Associate. Julie had this attitude that her customer service didn't have to be up to par- that the Townhomes would just sell themselves. Upon arrival, Julie spoke no words to me. She didn't greet or acknowledge me. A little frustrated, because I was the only one in the sales office, I decided to introduce myself on my own. Julie was reluctant to help me, she seemed like she wanted to get back to just sitting at her desk doing nothing. She really wanted to make sure that I could afford the townhome before she would show it to me, so she started asking me very inappropriate questions. She wanted to know where I worked, my income, what kind of vehicle I drove, etc.. I didn't disclose any of this information directly to her- why?- because it's illegal for her to discriminate against anyone like that (Fair Housing Act). Meanwhile, a -------- woman came in the sales office to inquire about a townhome. She told her they were all leased out until 2009! After she left, Julie looked at me and said, "Well she couldn't afford a place like this anyway." She finally walked me down to the townhome. On the way, she mentioned how she was trying not to lease to the minorities because they cause "all sorts of problems". She told me she lies about the price to ---------/asians/------- just to get them out of the office! She threw out a few more bold comments while showing me the Townhome. I tried to ignore her stupidity, but enough is enough. When I left the community, I decided to do something about little Miss Julie. Perhaps I should have told poor Julie where I worked. Maybe then she would have taken a different approach! I work for the U.S. department of Housing and Urban Development. I deal with fair housing and equal opportunity cases. And to top that off- my husband works for the Property Management Company for Villas at Parkside (this is how I was referred to the community to begin with). So sorry Julie- the phone call has already been made. Count your days....
