Resident ā€¢ 2015

I've been here since August and so far I've had a good experience. I made the mistake of not sending them my initial payment, so I almost missed out on getting my keys and stuff the day I arrived in Fort Worth (I came from Florida). Misty was a doll and let me off the hook, allowing me to move in and pay the next day. I appreciated that quite a bit. She understood that I was human and she essentially refused to shove me out on the street because "it's policy." I live in a phase II apartment. It is VERY nice and well worth the price, contrary to what some others think. For the price, there's nowhere around here that gets you what you get in the units for cheaper than this place. The windows are double paned, and in general the apartments are very energy efficient. My most recent energy bill was $9. Nine. Dollars. My highest has been $40. I've had no abnormal issues with noise or anything like that. My neighbor does have an annoying dog, but that's just the cost of living in an apartment. There are always going to be loud people, and it's just something that you have to deal with when you choose to live in an apartment. Maintenance seems to be alright. One of my toilets was not flushing properly when I moved in. I let the front office know and it was fixed the next day. I have not used them outside of that. I will say, however, that this place is pretty far from anything. Lake Worth is pretty close, and there's quite a bit of shopping there, but if you want to go to Downtown or West 7th, it's going to be a bit of a hike (maybe 15-20 minutes worst case). I come from a place where everything is pretty far away, so that is not something that concerns me (it might concern you). It's about a 7-8 minute drive to Lockheed Martin, so if you work there it's a good place to live (I'm told about 70% of the residents here work there or on the JRB), and you get a 5% discount on your rent. A recent review mentioned how "nothing is free." They are correct; you do pay for trash, water, utilities, and gate remotes ($25 each). This, however, is not abnormal and I'm surprised someone even mentioned it as a negative. You pretty much always have to pay for trash no matter where you live. You either pay it to your apartment complex (if you live in one), or to the city if you live in a house. Trash is a utility; garbage men get paid, and someone has to foot the bill for it. Regardless, it's like $7 a month. If you are concerned about $7 a month... I feel very sorry for you. The water is sub-metered, meaning that you pay for your usage and ONLY your usage. Some complexes around here take the total consumption of the complex and divide it by the number of units. This one does not. I like that, because I do not typically like to foot the bill for other people's stuff. As far as safety goes, I have not had any issues thus far, but I do rent a garage and mostly keep a tight ship. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary and in general the people around here seem to be very nice. A few people leave their motorcycles parked in covered parking or uncovered parking and as far as I know nobody has had one stolen yet (motorcycles are commonly stolen from apartment complexes). I typically do not put a whole lot of stock into online reviews, because for every 1 bad review, there are probably 100 other people that enjoyed their experience and did not say anything about it, especially in apartment complexes. I suppose that's why I'm here writing this review, because I don't think this place gets enough credit for what it offers. I'm being transferred to Denver, CO, and I have to break my lease, so we'll see how they deal with that.
