Resident 2005 - 2006

6/19/2006

My husband and I have had minimal problems with our neighbors, but the one above us is the one we've had the most conflict with. We currently live on the second floor...not a good choice, but it was the only apartment available at the time, and we're also right next to the road. Since there are 9 ft ceilings, the sound of loud cars echos badly. The parking here is really bad. If you don't get home before 6 or 7 at night, you'll have to park kinda far from your apartment because it's crowded here. There are parties all over the whole complex on Friday's and Saturdays, and the parking's even worse on those days because of it. My husbands car kept getting vandalized, so we had to spend an additional $50/mo for a garage just so people won't mess with it. There are gates on the complex that rarely work, which means that there isn't a whole lot of protection from people who dislike you, or things like that. There's also a gym here, but there are always little kids in there playing on the equipment, which I don't think should be happening either.

I don't think this apartment complex is really bad, considering all things because I've never had a problem with the staff, other than the partying neighbor above me who she has done nothing about since I've complained on him to her 3 times and she told me, personally, that she'd evict him by the 3rd time if he kept it up. (Well, he has, and he's still here....) Overall I think the staff's really nice, though they sometimes seem like they're in a rush. The complex is pretty well kept, and I don't see it going downhill into a slum in the next year or so, but I will say that they'll allow just about anyone in here, so you might wanna keep your eye out.

Oh yea... At my old apartment, they ripped us a new one for our water and electric. Over here, the electric isn't really high, and the water you pay for by your own meter. We don't have to do that stuff where you pay a portion of the entire complex's water usage. That was one of the things we really liked about these apartments because it's not fair if you really don't use a lot of water. I think the highest our bill's ever been was about $16, and I think the highest electric bill we ever had in our 1 bedroom here was somewhere around $120.

I really haven't seen any bugs here. I'm a freak about cockroaches and waterbugs... I'm more likely to have a heart attack over seeing a bug like that in my apartment than to kill it. I've seen a few really tiny spiders here and there, but maybe 5 in total since moving in 8 months ago, so for bug freaks, it's relatively calm here.

...and since these apartments are on a slight hill with land that is rocks, dirt, trees, and a little bit of grass right next to it on the south side of the complex, dirt flies up on your car, so I wouldn't spend a lot of time washing it because by the next day, it won't always look like it's clean- depending on the wind.
