Not sure if these people are money hungry or if they are just trying to keep up with the rest of the apartments around here but:
You pay $35 (required) a month for them to pick up your trash but your trash sits by your door for days attracting flies and stuff.
You pay $3 (required) a month for pest control but you have to call pest control to come out, they don't automatically come even though youre automatically charged.
Maintenance usually takes 1 to 2 days which is ok except for emergencies. There is no emergency maintenance even though the office says there is. If its after hours, the staff are instructed NOT to call maintenance so you hsve to wait during business hours for your issue to be fixed.
The floors and floor boards are attached to the wall completely so sometimes you can see critters come in from outside. (Maintenance never did anything about this). So if you have a pet, pick there bowl up at night, otherwise, roaches will be in their food.
The apartments were just "renovated" so now we have backsplashes, new countertops, and sinks. This is good because now you can actually see the roaches as they scurry along the counters. (The counters used to be black so you couldn't see them.)
The pool was renovated and it looks nice.
I think they should have put more effort into pest control first than into other things. I mean the outside looks bomb but the inside is still meh, even if you keep a spotless house.
It can be a comfortable space once you move in but little things like that make a huge impact. Like, roaches fall from the ceiling sometimes. Its disgusting. And it isn't big ones, baby ones but still. Its nasty. And I keep my house spotless. (No kids, 1 cat, barely home to make a mess during the day, clean at least once a week.) Also told the office about this and they've done nothing. Not even a courtesy pest control call.
Parking has changed. So if you don't pay $30 for a spot, you have to park all the way in the back or on the street outside the complex, depending where you apartment is this could be a good thing.
Its not the most horrible place I've lived. And the neighbors are friendly, they keep to themselves, dont bother anyone, etc. But I believe the rent is about to go up since they renovated. I wont be staying here another year. If im going to pay over $1000 for a place, it will be one that at least has decent pest control.
