This community is pretty, but I would not recommend anyone to live here. Environment: We were living face to the pool side, the view was nice, except noisy, party, music, drinking, rats running around the pool at night, people yelled and stay after midnight. Before we move in, we have emotional support pet, we provided the doctor’s doc and service pet cert to the office. They were trying to contact my dr. and verify the doc. As my doctor transferred to other location, they were unable to reach my doctor, they told us we need to pay $350 pet fee and $150 deposit for my pet. First, the staff was ridiculous, they should not contact my doctor for my information, this is private regulations. Second, I provided Doctor’s doc and emotional support pet cert, they can’t reject us. The staff was unprofessional. Long story short, at last, they waived the pet fee. Leasing agreement: We stayed in AMLI apartment 7 months, our lease is until April 2018. We bought a house, so we want to early termination. Regarding to the leasing agreement, it requires 60 days notice, but it did not mention how many day of penalty for early termination. On Sep 1 2017, we went to office check with the staff, he provides us a sheet shows 60days notice and 60days rent for penalty. If we pay it within 14 days of notice, will get 5 % off from the penalty. After 4 days (5 Sep), we got the Termination Settlement Agreement from office requests 60 days notice + 90 day rent penalty. We went to office verify with the manager, she said the information sheet “subject to change” so they can change it without notice. she also mentioned they don’t have standard charge for early termination, it depends on the company decisions. Sounds like they can charge or change whatever they want! We understand early termination will affect the property company, 60 days notice which it mentioned on rental agreement, but for the 3 months penalty, it did not mention on the agreement. Additional on 1 Sep, the staff told us is 2 months penalty, on 5 Sep, they changed to 3 months penalty and forced us to sign the agreement within 2 days. At the end we paid over $9,000 to get out of the lease. As we planned to move in Nov, we don’t have other choice. Such as big apartment rental company, not professional staff, don’t have standard policy and rules, can charge whatever they want. IF I would have known 3 months penalty in advance or it shows in agreement, I could have different plan or find another complex.
