I have lived in the Oaks for 3 years now & at first everything was great then last summer all that changed - new management took over & everything has gone down hill - I read on here that people's water bill were high - my water bill averaged $17.00 a month for the first 22 months - then last June it started climbing it went from $25.00 to $50.00 to $102.00 @ this point I paid $20.00 & called the office & was told if I did not pay the rest of the bill I would be evicted so I paid it the next month my bill was $184.00 I paid all the bill the next month the bill was $251.00 I paid $50.00 & called the office again & was told they know there is a problem with the billing & they are working on it - I told her I would not be paying any more & she said she understood & would get with the manager & get me a refund since I had over paid so much - the next month my bill was $254.00, the next it actually went down to $81.00 - I called the office the first of January since it had been 2 month & I still had not seen a refund or credit & was told I would have to talk to the person that told me I would get a credit but she never returns my calls so I paid my rent only -I came home a few days later to a note on my door stating that I owe $536.00 for my water bill - I went straight to the office the office person there pulled up my file & said she realized there is a problem but I was not the only person but that most of the other tenants were paying at least half their bill in the past 6 month my water bill was $998.00 I ve paid $392.00 - I refused to pay any of the bill & will never pay any of the bill & will take off what I feel is a fare amount of my rent next month - I pray for an eviction notice so I can go to court with these people with my water bills & the history of what my bills were - for a management staff to ignore people telling them there is a leak (which I read on here was behind Bldg 16 & there was a large leak in the parking lot in front of Bldg 9) & that bills were 15 times what was normal & to do nothing for over 6 months & expect their tenants to pay is ludicrous - the bill I just received is for $17.28 just as before - if the owner have half a brain they will FIRE this management team IMMEDIATELY & go back to the old one, who did a GREAT JOB - I am so thankful that my lease is up in April I can't wait to get out of here - just an FYI my neighbor is moving today because of her water bill being $60.00 a month which she refused to pay & she told me yesterday the manger of The Oaks actually faxed over a note to her new apartment manager stating she still owed a water bill - she is so glad she had the foresight to bring her water bill & history when she applied for the apartment - her new manager laughed at the Oaks manager gall NO MATTER WHAT A GREAT DEAL YOU THINK YOU WILL GET HERE IT WILL TURN OUT TO BE THE WORST DEAL OF YOUR LIFE
