I'm not going to sugarcoat my experience of living here for 7 years. From February 2017 until April 2020, I was in love with The Mansion of McKinney because of the high ceilings, the modern look, the indoor stairs & elevator, the flat surface range, the max security for the doors, and the fair cost of rent for the sqft of my 1 bedroom apt. Not to mention, the beautiful pool area with the large outdoor TV, fireplaces, dog friendly environment, the rare change of staff, the daily upkeep of the inside of the buildings, and the 18 month lease agreements with limited rent increase. In April 2020, the staff was changed because TMM was bought out by another company who changed the name to McKinney Square. August 2021 my lease was up for renewal with an small increase with a 13 month lease which was a disappointment because I was used to doing an 18 month lease agreement which I loved. Then I noticed, the management changed every year as well as the leasing agents but not as much as management. I wish there was more longevity with the staff especially management because it allows you to build a relationship but with the constant changes it doesn't allow you much time to get to know the staff. We used to have a message board for the residents to sell items, list jobs, and communicate with each other but that ended with the take over in 2020. Then September 2021, my lease was up for renewal with a $200 rent increase which blew my mind. It went from $60 increase in August 2020 to $200 increase in 13 months, but the acting manager was able to take off $50. For the last three years, my rent as increased by $200 which is insane for a 700sqft one bdrm one bthrm apartment. The buildings aren't cleaned daily and for a year the door were not secure which meant anybody could get into your apartment. Finally, management upgraded the doors and the entryway security which I was very pleased. I am being charged a pest control fee, I have only had my apartment exterminated once. If I'm paying the fee then the staff should schedule the exterminator to exterminate my apartment monthly without me making a request. As of October 2022, I have been struggling to pay my rent on time because of the Hughes increase in my rent and making less money. It's not my proudest moment because I have always paid my rent on time except for during months of March2020 to May 2020 due to being laid off because of COVID. As soon as I received my unemployment check, I paid my rent in full. From January 2023 until present day, I have been paying my rent in full including late fees by the end of the month. It's the ideal way, but my weekly check does not equal my rent. Therefore, I have save up for my rent. The entire year of 2023, the management of McKinney Square would lock me out of the residential portal on the 26th day of the month and forcing my to pay more money by paying my rent via cashier's check instead of letting me pay through the portal. I was harassed every week from the management staff about my late rent either by notices on my door, email, VM, and mail. Instead of being understanding, they added to more stress which elevated the depression and anxiety. The staff knew I struggled with depression especially the assistant property manager and the leasing agents because I told them in June 2021 when I first met them when they were leasing agents. The befriended me just to treat me cruelly when they were promoted. As of January 2024, there is a new property manager and new leasing agents who I have not met in person but they seem very nice when I have spoken them over the phone. The harassment has ended and being locked out of the residential portal has come an end since the change of management. My only wish is for management to recognize the residents who have maintained loyalty by decreasing our rent instead of raising it every year. I'm the only resident in building 8 on the 2nd floor who has remained in my same apartment since the building opened in February 2017. I deserve a break in my rent. If you choose to live at McKinney Square please take pride in the place you reside by picking up your dog or dogs poop, by closing the entryway doors, by giving your friends or family members your entry code to enter into the building, picking up your trash in the hallway, and by reporting any issues that you see needs to be fixed so maintenance can fix it. I love my little apartment at McKinney Square and you will too if you decide to make McKinney Square your home. One last thing don't be afraid to make suggestions which can help improve McKinney Square Apartments.

    I have always had a great experience at McKinney Square until the huge increase on my rent last August. My rent increase has always been between $0 to $60 but not over $200 that's insane. I chosed The Mansion of McKinney now McKinney Square because of the look, rent price, and the safety. I have been a resident for 5 years and last year was the first time I struggled paying my rent every month. I totally don't think my 1 bedroom 700sqft home is worth $1153 a month. Although, I have a new job; I still find it hard to pay my rent on time because of the way I am paid. I have seen a lot residents come and go out of my apartment building as well as on my floor, but I have remain a faithful resident for 6 years and 3 months while living in the same apartment from day one.

      I have been here for 5 years and I have not been offered anything for renewing my lease. The only thing I get is an increase in my rent. I am being charged for pest control and I've never had my home treated since I've been here.

        Actually, I like when the lease contract was 18 months. I have been living in the same apartment since 2/2017. I'm probably the only resident in my building who has been here since building 8 opened in 2017. I feel like I should have some type of rent control.
