I was really excited to move here at first and then my boyfriend and I started talking about what it would take to move in. I should start out by saying that it's my boyfriend, myself, our son, and our family friend wanting to get a three bedroom apartment. I'm a stay at home mom, and my boyfriend and our roommate work in oil. We all filled out the application and paid our fees only to find out that all of us have to make three times the rent. Essentially, they're looking for the three of us to make nine times the rent per month, which boils down to about $22,500 a month. I'm sorry, but in no other market do you have to prove $22,000 per month to rent a $2,500 apartment. So that's a joke in and of its self. I am fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom, so I automatically don't qualify to live there even though everyone else makes three times the rent. I could, however, live there if I was married and was still a stay at home mom. I know that people take you more seriously when you're married, I just want to know what the difference is for them. If my boyfriend looses his job and we can't make rent, we get evicted. If my husband looses his job and can't make rent, we still get evicted. Same outcome for them either way. I thought at first it was to keep the "riff raff" out but as I look around, said riff raff is still here. Flawed system. On top of this crazy policy, they were rude and unhelpful.
