Resident 2003

12/30/2003

I have just moved in. I have only occupied my apartment Since Sept of 2003, and in that short span of time until now...(Dec 29th) I have nothing but regret about moving into this nightmare. Several times the water and electricity have gone off without warning for days at a time...(and always at the most inconvenient time) 6:45 am on a Monday morning ...As if no one has a job to be on at eight! The complex controls the utilities so the bills that I receive monthly are astronomically puzzling, considering I live alone and am rarely ever home!!! Every time it rains my roof/ceiling leaks...and when I complain I am lied to, "Oh we fixed it"..."We went into your apartment and never saw any water” They must not have noticed the 2 foot crack in the ceiling and inches of water on the counter and floor...their solution slap a coat of thin white paint over the crack, that is until the next time it rains. I finally threaten them by withholding the rent until they come and fix it, their response, quicker than lightning they TURN OFF MY POWER and slide a note under my door threatening to replace the locks on my door for non-payment... If you have a maintenance emergency on the weekend or after five on a business day...good luck getting the problem addressed (even though the maintenance staff LIVES ON PROPERTY!!!!) Did I mention that they are rude, lazy and unprofessional? Always making excuses for things not getting done correctly. They have two major problems, sorry I stand corrected, three major problems 1) They do not respond to problems in a timely manner. 2) They do not completely "fix" anything---just band-aid it temporarily. 3) They have no concern/respect for the residents or their property (maintenance men came into my apartment and cleaned up the nasty brown rain water they "never saw" with my good bath towels and left them outside on my porch to dry---how thoughtful of them)...and last but not least I have saved the best for last...Just days before Christmas the boiler finally died, and with it went the hot water...for ten days, myself, my 21 month-old son, my sister in town for the holidays, and the rest of the residents, we forced to boil water like that of the pilgrims back in the colonial days in order to maintain a halfway descent representation of "good hygiene" Everyone complained over and over and time and again we were told it would be fixed that day (it never was and conveniently the phone was never answered during offices hours)...On the 10th day I finally took time away form my job to go into the office...I literally had to yell and scream like a lunatic and offer them the opportunity to smell my 10 day-old unwashed hair...maintenance and management told me "Oh we did not know you did not have hot water, one of those darn kids must have snuck into the boiler and turned it down..." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! AS IF I HADN´T BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH...AND NOW THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE WITH THAT LINE OF GARBAGE? I beg and plead with you not to move in to this sewage of a facility…It is not even fit for my ever present/ uninvited house guests, the huge roaches, I mean water bugs that share my apartment rent free!
