Resident ā€¢ 2011 - 2012

7/31/2012

Parking: -Parking is open unless you want a covered spot. Then you must may extra. There is a couple abandoned vehicles, but they are removing them. Parking usually isn t much of a problem. - Not very well lit. I saw multiple times where cars got broken into. Noise: -Wal-Mart is across the street as is the bus station. -You can hear the loud diesel engines of the busses going by all night long. Also you can hear the breaks and the intercom systems. Good thing is they stop about 11pm so you can at least get some sleep till 5am. There is two bus stops right outside the apartment grounds. When I say they are loud they are LOUD! -People like to race up and down the Mainland Dr. Very noisy. Literally drag race since it s a one way in one way out. -Walls and ceiling are paper-thin. You can hear and literally smell your neighbors. Nothing like listen to people having intercourse or listen to the nonstop pounding of neighbors playing with their WII's. Also you can hear their normal Conversation. As far as the smell you can smell them smoking marijuana and cigarettes. Noise is a MAJOR problem with these apartments. I have lived in apartments before, but this one takes it as being the thinnest walls and nosiest. Grounds: -Wal-Mart shopping carts everywhere. I woke up to them outside my doors for weeks. When I complained they said they pick them up every day. Think I pilled up 6 of them within two weeks before they removed them (after a second complaint). Even tied a piece of string to them to see if they were the same ones. They were in fact. They were in the wide open. I finally gave up. Till this day you see them scattered throughout the grounds. -No play area for kids. Most kids play in the parking lot or street. Almost hit few of them since they run right out and don t even look. Kids should not play in the street. -Cigarette butts in the grass. We got written up for Cigarette butts (We don t smoke nor do our friends). Those butts (probably 50 of them) sat in the grass for 3 months after we moved in before they cleaned them up. -Satellite dishes everywhere. Nice to have the option, but looks extremely trashy -People have tires, weight sets, etc sitting out on the front porch. Extremely tacky. -Front gate doesn t work. Nor has it worked in the year we were there. Asked about it and the front desk said they don t plan on getting it fixed. -Side walking gate doesn t lock (is damaged) and doesn t have cameras. Anyone could walk through that gate break into some cars and walk out without anyone seeing them and have a quick getaway. -Gym is alright kind of small. -Laundry room had a funky smell every time I was in there. -The bike trail behind the apartments is nice. -Pool is alright. Safety/Security: -Kids play in the street. literally right in the busy traffic way and pay little to no attention to oncoming traffic. -The front gate does not work nor do they have any intention on fixing it. The say it s because people keep running their cars into it. -The side walking gate also does not work nor locks. Looks like someone destroyed the gate. Also no cameras monitoring. -Doors do not have the guard to prevent people from kicking the door/breaking the door frame. Additionally they only have a standard dead-bolt. The sliding doors have a very simple metal pin holding the door shut. -Homeless people right outside the grounds panhandling for money. -Multiple break ins in the year that we lived there. -Was on the news for people hiding from the police from robbing the Wal-Mart next door. -Stabbing at the bar down the street. Believe the Bar is now closed. -Not well lit. -You can smell marijuana smoke occasionally throughout the apartment. -Heavy traffic on Bandera Rd. Only one way in and out of the apartment. You must turn on Mainland. -Would highly suggest having a home defense weapon near you when sleeping. A lot of activity at night. Felt unsafe. Construction: -Some of the ground sprinklers don t work. They spray on people windows. You can see the hard water stains which show its been happening a long time. -Paper thin walls you can hear everything from your neighbors and literally can smell those smoking cigarettes and marijuana. -Small hot water heater. You will run out of hot water quickly. -Cheap linoleum flooring. The tiles will pop up. -Not much storage space. -The doors in the bathroom and closet cannot be opened at the same time or they will hit each other. -Very Very small master bedroom. Our Queen size beds would barely fit. -Bug problem. We then had swarms of bugs outside the apartment. -VERY SMALL Laundry rooms. Our average size washers and driers did fit, but you couldn t close the laundry room doors. -You have to use Grande Cable, which is a horrible service. We always had issues with them and cable going out/having issues. Additionally the people at the office push it so they can get cash back for referrals. Or you can use a satellite dish. -Not an energy efficient apartments. You can tell there is not much insulation. -Charge you for new carpet. If the carpet needed replaced from a previous renter then should that be covered by their deposits. Don t think you should pay for something that was done prior to moving in. Maintenance: -I will say the maintenance people seemed nice and worked hard. -The AC would go out/act up on a monthly basis. All they would do is fill up the AC unit cooling. Never really got fixed thought they stated there was a leak. -Chose to fix most issues myself. Staff: -The person at the apartment misled us. Was our fault for physically not viewing the apartment prior to signing the contract and trusting someone. We were supposed to be on the second floor per the map she showed us, but we ended up being on the first floor in a horrible area. She just handed us the key and let us find out where it was. -Some staff not to say any names are very rude and will talk over you and constantly interrupt you. They also will blatantly have the look of "I don t care why are you wasting my time" when you talk to them. -My wife called to put in a work order. The lady at the front desk was so rude to her that it made her cry. -Some of them not all need to really take a lesson in customer service. They are very nasty and rude people and tend to make it seem like it s your problem not threes. -Had multiple deliveries that ended up being taken to the front desk. They never informed me until I had to call the company who I ordered it from. Granted the deliver should have left note. Other: -People at the front desk are rude and shady (not going to mention names) and need to take a class in customer service. -My wife called to put in a work order. The lady at the front desk was so rude to her that it made her cry. Overall: Would highly suggest moving elsewhere. If you have to move here. DO NOT trust the people. Document everything and take pictures. There are allot of nicer and cheaper places in the area. Reason we moved in. We were in a rush to move and it was near my wifes work. Reason we stayed is we didn t want to lose money from breaking the lease. Good thing is we were not at home very much since it was so unpleasant and noisy being there. Naturally we moved out couple months ago and didn t even consider renewing the lease. Pet Policy: Don t think there really is one. I ve seen people with all size and breeds of dogs. Everything from poodles to pit bulls. Believe you have to pay a down deposit and max of 2. FYI nothing had really changed. 90% of the historical posts are still accurate and when certain individuals say a lot of changes/improvements have been made I would like to know what. Oh and about the AC they still push you to keep your AC on a high temperature. If im paying money I want my AC to be how i want it. 78 degrees is not hot/cold. And yes the AC's freeze constantly and yes the locks are still broken which apparently have been like that for years. Apartments look nice from outside, but look closer. Also read your contract very closely and get everything in writing... if they will accept it.
