Resident 2013

9/10/2013

I just moved out of this complex in 2013, so I don't know how things were when everyone else lived here but I can tell you that you are wasting your time even looking here. At first I thought...this place is centrally located, good price per square footage and very "homey." If you are thinking about living here consider my experience and make an educated decision. When I first moved in I was told that eeeeeeverything had been re-done and it was just as awesome as can be, and I stupidly believed that. I let the double sink, and large closets and extra counter space in the kitchen distract me. I had a 1 bedroom, which are located on the bottom floor of the building. My apartment was surrounded by railroad ties (because they just look so nice) that are falling apart and rotten. Due to the rain/humidity I had the pleasure of running from my car to the door every night because the railroad ties (large blocks of wood) are roach havens and they jump out at you in passing. The windows and ceiling were paper thin. Because of the floor plan of these buildings, the one bedroom- bedroom is located below the front door of your upstairs neighbors. So every morning when they go to work and every time they come home late at night you will hear them walking on the cement and metal stairs right above your bed. Besides the fact that everything around there is falling apart... You can hear the stampede of children above you all hours of the morning and evening, 7 days of every single week. If you are some how lucky to live under light footed people, you may experience hearing people arguing outside a few times a week, car bass loud enough to rattle your sliding glass doors, or children running around outside breaking bottles because there is nowhere for them to play. Besides the growing amount of sketchy people that were moving in there every month, you will most likely have nowhere to park. When you have 3 cars parked outside a 1 bedroom apartment, you can only imagine how it is with the two bedroom, two story apartments. I really don't know how many people they allow to a bedroom but they are clearly not enforcing or caring about that at all. It feels more like a hotel honestly. My next problem was that the maintenance here was horrible. I called the office about 15 times for the same problem(s) and every single time they act like they don't know what i'm talking about. I finally gave up and accepted the fact that I will never get any real work out of them. You could HARDLY even call the maintenance "handymen." Although I had the luxury of two sinks in my one bedroom bathroom, only 1 ever worked. One clogs religiously and the other one leaks so I had to stick to the one that clogs up, after numerous attempts to unclog/get it fixed. When you do have an issue for maintenance and decide to report it, the office "manager" rushes you off the phone and promises you that it will be taken care of before you can even finish telling her what the problem is (Promising, I know.)My carpet, although new when I moved in was the most disgusting, cheap carpet I have ever seen! They took the liberty of re-staining my cabinets at some point within the building's life and there were varnish stains all over the floor of the kitchen. My guests often thought it was dog pee because that's what it looks like. The appliances are from the 80's. My microwave didn't even work anymore but I didn't even feel like reporting it because for 1) I know it would have taken them at least a month to address it and 2) the microwave was so old and large and mounted on my wall that the new one would have been considerably smaller...Meaning that they would have left a big gross blank spot where the old paint was and attach the new one to the wall. trust me I have seen it done in another apt. Lastly, I would also just like to point out that the fence around the building is broken and falling apart in several areas, so there's really no point to the security fence. People and various species of animals can and do come through here at any time. Remember that there is an in town suites, something or other close by and that place brings in very sketchy people to the area. I have heard more than once of a shooting there. If none of these items bother you, be my guest and move in. If you are an incredibly patient person and are able to do your own repairs, and won't be home much... be my guest. But I would really not recommend a one bedroom. Enjoy the incredibly slight price advantage and central location, "Welcome to Hell." I would MUCH rather pay 900.00-1,000 for a nice, new, one bedroom in a better location.
