MAINTENANCE UNLOCKS YOUR DOORS FOR MONEY!

At the end of my current lease I will have lived in these apartments for 3 years and I am 'more' than happy to say that I will not be resigning my lease for another year. The office staff is very unprofessional, let alone maintenance but we will get into that in a later. Last week I received a letter on my door saying that rent was due "On the 1st" of the month "Starting in August!"... So on Monday, August 1st I tried to pay my rent online how I normally do. I guess when you renew your lease your login information expires and it states that you have to get the information from the leasing office. I called the after-hours answering service for Sierra Vista and tried to obtain it through them. The representative stated that I needed to talk directly to someone in the office at Sierra Vista so I left a specific message for someone to give me a call back tomorrow in reference to my online account so that I can pay my rent and if I did not answer feel free to leave the message on my answering machine because I was at work.. Unsure if the message got delivered but I never received a call or voice message today (08/02/2011). Which brings me to the incident that happened today. I get off of work at 5:30 PM and have to fight traffic coming home. Sometimes I make it home a little after 6:00PM. Today I made it home at about 6:10PM. I went to the office, since nobody cared to call me regarding my rent, the sign still said "Open".. to me that means your "Open". There is another resident standing at the desk. As soon as I open the door I hear Valerie Gonzalez say, "...oh my god!" The resident looks at me and says, "Their closed, she told me to tell you their closed.." in which I replied, "It's regarding my rent, I'm pretty sure they want to get paid.." Valerie stands up from behind the desk and says, "It's 10 minutes after 6:00PM, we're not even supposed to be here! How can I help you!?" (Professional???) I explain to her that I am locked out of my online account and that I need my new password since my lease had changed. She replies, "You know rent's not due til tomorrow! Come back tomorrow!". I remind her about the letter I received on my door stating that Rent was due on the 1st and she says "Well there is nothing I can do for you right now!" It amazes me how the people in the office would refuse to help service someone who is trying to pay them rent. Especially when all I needed was a "password" for my online account.. If I stop by the office tomorrow and it is closed by the time I get home, I refuse to pay late fee since I was refused to be serviced when I made the attempt to pay my rent.. Now, to my problem with maintenance. One of the maintenance workers illegally (...at least I'm pretty sure it's illegal) granted access to my apartment to someone who is not on my lease. By that I mean unlocked my door for the hefty price of $10! After I gained knowledge of this I went to the office to file a complaint and was informed that their was zero tolerance for this matter and promised disciplinary actions would be enforce.... you could imagine my surprise when I seen the maintenance man working the next day and is very much still working in the complex today. I'm sure an apartment complex that has maintenance men that unlock people's doors for a whopping $10 (..or any fee for that matter) for someone who is not on the lease nor stay in the complex is not a good selling point for leasing apartments. Since they refused to take the "Disciplinary" actions that was "promised" to me, I inquired about being relocated to another apartment, I mean that would be the least the office could do for failing to take action for their employee granting illegal access to my apartment right?? Wrong! I was denied my request to be moved to another apartment. Never asked for any special treatment or any fees to be waived, would've gladly paid any fees. I think the people in corporate really need to re-evaluate how business is ran over here. I mean, all it takes is a quick google search on Sierra Vista apartments to see that the current structure is not successful. If the goal is to generate constant customer complaints, non satisfied tenants and degradation of one of the Lynd Co. properties, then keep up the "bad" work. But if the goal is to provide the tenants with a pleasurable and polite experience here at Sierra Vista, then an intervention is very much needed. To aide in the effort of making this complex a better place to live, I will be submitting a copy of this email to as many outlets as possible so that people will know the truth about Sierra Vista apartments. I appreciate your time.. P.S. If someone would please provide me with my password so I can pay my rent, that would be very much appreciated. Thanks! J. Thomas
