When my husband and I (and our infant at the time) moved to Hacienda in 2012, we absolutely loved it! There were families everywhere, the location was great, and the price was reasonable for being close to UTSA (where I work) but not having to deal with any of the pesky college kids. I can definitely tell you that has changed - and not for the better unfortunately. The old management was 10x better than what I have experienced as of late - I think the new management has been around for a little less than a year now and in that year we have had so many problems: 1. We have had ant and roach infestations and have called for pest control multiple times but we eventually had to take matters into our own hands and hire someone to kill all the bugs. 2. Security is getting worse by the day and I'm pretty sure it's because of all the college kids they are now signing leases for - the guy who wrote the review about the car on cinder blocks - completely true, happened right outside our window - ridiculous. And we get letters all the time about break-ins and burglaries - every time I get out of my car at night with my little one, I have to call my husband to come out on our balcony to make sure I get out of my car ok and up to the apartment - this is not how it should be. 3. Maintenance NEVER comes when they are supposed to and most of the time it's not even their fault as they sometimes never get the work order - I've had plenty times where I go into the office to submit a work order and the staff writes it on a post-it note only for me to follow up a week later with why my work order is not done and they say they never got one from me... 4. I don't even know why there is an emergency line because no one ever calls you back unless you call and leave messages like 3x in a row - we've had our heater go out on us in the middle of a freeze, we've had our toilets overflow and we've called about noise complaints (never got a call back) and we've only received call backs when I call an additional 10x. and 5. lastly, the noise. This one is the worst and the reason why my husband and now toddler are leaving. Ever since the new management has been over Hillstone, there has been a large and I mean large influx of college kids who are noisy and disrespectful. I work at UTSA and manage several student workers who go to UTSA and they basically say that Hillstone is the go to apartment because of the cheaper rates - it is a literal glorified dorm. Our neighbors below us in particular, in apt 828, are the most disrespectful people I have ever encountered. They have parties on their balcony until 730 am in the morning! Who does that?! We have told them 3 times to please just take the party inside but they will not budge. They have parties 5 times out of the week and even after we let them know that we have a 4 year old that wakes up every time they are out on their balcony screaming and shouting, they don't care. We still have over a month left on our lease and our little one starts school next week. I'll be damned if they keep him up for whats going on a month now during the nights and have that affect his school. If the apartment doesnt want me doing something about it AGAIN, then they better step in. SAPD has been called on them twice and they have been written up twice to the staff at Hillstone but as to my knowledge nothing has been done. As a patron of this apartment for over 2 years I feel that I should be followed up with in regards to if any notices were given to the residents or anything like that. These people have lived in that apartment for 3 months so to have your residents of over 2 years move out because of these new college residents is really sad. I'm sad to be leaving such a great location but I'm happy to move to a more family friendly environment and not have to hear guys crashing beer cans on their heads at 7am in the morning after a 24 hour bender party. Hillstone has to do better or it will just be taken over by the college kids and be a big mess. Oh, and to the reviews (the last couple) that said it's quiet and we've just moved in and enjoyed it so far...wait until next week when all the college kids get back into town from Summer. Good luck!
