vizcaya is unsuitable for disabled seniors especially if located in back of building 3, which is where I live. The sidewalk is very narrow and I use a white cane & have neuropathy which causes me to teeter sometimes. I was never shown the location before I moved in (the front of the building was indicated and I unfortunately trusted management). They provided no walk-through & said I should have asked for it. The most recent time that maintenance came was the only task that was completed properly. I have been given an extremely old stove with a bottom drawer that cannot be closed. This was in exchange for an old stove that when replaced created a hazard on the floor that causes me to trip when walking as maintenance scraped the floor badly when installing. The indicator lights do not always work. Mgmt was aware of my sight impairment when I signed the lease. The Lighthouse for the Blind workers who come by occasionally have deemed this apartment hazardous. When I asked Vizcaya Mgmt he cost of my leaving (I've been here approximately 5 months), I was told that I would have to pay for every month that the apartment was vacant. Additionally, Mgmt has charged me for not paying CPS non-payment while vacant. CPS told me to give them my acct number, which I did, and they would verify my payments & correct the situation. This month's rental bill does not reflect that they complied. I am still waiting for the washer/dryer that I was told would be available to rent & must pay to have someone do my laundry as walking to the on-site laundry is very difficult.
