Resident 2016

6/15/2016

Well I have to say upon moving here I did expect the worse only because of what I was already used to be I needed to be in a all bills paid apartment for the time being. This is by far the worse apartments I have ever lived in. First things first, the neighborhood surrounding the apartments is nice in a nice area centrally located and close to most everything you need. The area is also very quiet I almost never hear anything going on outside or in my own apartment from neighboring apartments. Upon moving in I did notice that they do have an infestation of roaches that slowly declined as I settled in (I did not know of this before I moved in) but are never gone and the apartments spray monthly. The apartments are not that bad for the price on the inside but it could definitely use a face lift inside and out. Lots of old paint on top of paint so doors and cabinets stick, walls are never sanded or fixed just roughly painted over. They also have an odor of sorts that no matter what I do I can never seem to get it from smelling like an old dwelling or basement inside. Floors are poorly covered by faux wood lanolin carpet was new so that was fine. Grout along wall in kitchen and bathroom both very old, dirty and crumbling. Windows are very old so you constantly have to run heat or air conditioning just to stay comfortable (hence the all bills paid). Now the actual apartment grounds are shabby at best. Parking lots are unevenly paved, with very large cracks and even larger pot holes. The fence running along the apartment exterior is falling. Trash is usually picked up and grass kept cut there are some flowering plants that are only grown by the office. The rest of the apartments are an eye sore with one part in the middle having an abandoned club house surrounded by a chain link fence. The pool area is very basic and lack luster and the water is often very dirty and murky in the summer. Most people's blinds are broken and from the outside is a horrible sight to see several apartments with broken blinds or just a sheet hanging as a curtain. Old air conditioning systems leak water all over the already very small walkways so your pretty much always stepping into a puddle. And the absolute worse things is the loads of furniture and mattresses that get left in the parking lot by the dumpster monthly. The sheer number of items left is mind boggling and I have never lived in an apartment complex where this even ever happened. I'm not sure if this is due to bed bugs or constant evictions but there is always a large amount of furniture outside by the dumpsters which is very embarrassing to have someone come visit you and drive up and see this pile of stuff like you live next to the city dump. Never had a problem with the staff so I cannot speak on them. I would not recommend this apartment complex and I cannot wait to move so that I never have to see this God awful place again. I pray for the people that have this as their only option. Someone told me that they would rather live in the projects than Ashton Oaks Apartments.
