Resident 2017

2/9/2017

No Noise Control and Filthy Apartment. We moved in not long ago, and the apartment was absolutely filthy when we got there. It took us a few days just to clean enough that we felt comfortable to move in our belongings, and we're still cleaning remnants from previous owners to date. Not to mention a still missing door knob and roach covered cabinet tops. We notified the front office, and they simply told us that they pay someone else to do the cleaning... That's not the worst issue here, though. Every single noise gets through the floors and walls of all the buildings, even the new one. Have neighbors upstairs who walk on their heels, enjoy loud music, and have kids? Forget it, you're not having any peace ever again. The front office enforces nothing regarding sound issues, and the walls literally rattle all evening with it. We were told to "call the police" when we tried to report our issues with endless hours of banging, stomping, and yelling that we listen to almost every day. Those are the good days when their music isn't turned up. We've kept a detailed log of all the racket, but management does not want to take action. (( Edit: We haven't called the police because per Wichita Falls Ordinances they're not breaking any laws. It's just tremendously irritating to live underneath what sounds like a construction zone going through its teen phase. )) If you don't mind cleaning and you're not bothered by a lot of noise (if you get unlucky enough to have loud neighbors like us), then this is the place for you. All I can tell myself at this point is "it's affordable..." and wait anxiously for our contract to be up. On the bright side, Sheppard's Edge (which we just left before moving here) is a very nice place with very clean apartments and good sound proofing. But above all, they care, unlike management here at Summit. P.S. If you're bothered by or allergic to tobacco products, don't visit the management office. Even though smoking is illegal in the work place in Wichita Falls since 2014 (Article IV of Chapter 58, sec 58-102 of WF Ordinances), it reeks. Hopefully it's just leftover from 3 years ago.
