Resident ā€¢ 2017

5/3/2017

I've lived here for almost a year and is pretty miserable. I live on the bottom floor and while my apartment was recently remodeled before I moved in and I have new appliances which is nice I definitely have my complaints. You can not fit a full sized washer and dryer in the laundry closet it is a closet not a room and the water heater is in the way so my dryer is half way in my kitchen, also there is no vent for the dryer so you have to buy a bucket thing and this causes the tiny apartment to get ridiculously hot and humid. I almost can not stand to live here in the summer it gets so hot the a.c. in the apartment is sort of a joke it's a small unit in the master bedroom it does not effect the temp of the rest of the house and barely cools the bedroom enough to sleep it doesnt matter if you clean the filter or anything it just doesnt work well especially if you had the dryer on or the oven or even a shower. None of the windows lock correctly amd the door isnt sealed will you can see light through the cracks so bugs and wind get in between all the windows and the ac unit heat or cold gets in making your bill pretty high having to regulate that temperature. The ac is also not sealed with anything when I moved in I could literally see into the outside and then maintenance came to fix it but he just put some foam noodles in the seal and still left big holes, I kept complaining because I hate spiders and they gave me some foam noodles to stuff in the cracks but it's not very safe people could look through it and bugs definitely crawl through it. Also if anyone is smoking anywhere outside the smell will come in through your a.c. same with noise you can hear everythi g going on outside because your a.c might as well be an open hole to the outside. The furnace did good through out the winter but as it's warming up I am remembering why I hate this place. The humidity in the apartment also causes dust to cling to the ceilings and they have this weird texture on them making it nearly impossible to clean so it makes the ceiling look gross and dust builds up quick! The garbage cans are very far away from my unit and they don't have bags anywhere near me to clean up after my dog either. All of the maintenance is cheap shotty work, they need to fire the maintenance guy or allow more money to spent on repairs if they just did better work they wouldnt have half the issues they do. I have lived here less than a year and I will list off the maintence problems weve had. The toilet in the master bedroom started leaking from underneath and they came and fixed it but then it started doing it again, the hinges on the master bedroom door fell off and the screws they use are less than an inch so no wonder it doesnt hold the door, the toilet seat and the handle to the shower in the other bathroom just fell off like there was nothing holding them on, the disposal stopped working and then when they replaced it the dishwasher wouldnt drain. (The maintence guy did not hook my dishwasher back up to the disposal or take out the plug to the disposal) from time to time the dishwasher and sink will start filling up with water because the entire building is linked through plumbing and if you're on the bottom everyone's clogs go towards you and they have to get a plumber. When winter came the a.c. that I mentioned earlier that isn't properly sealed had water running down the wall into the carpet the wall filled with water too and looks all ugly and they did nothing to repair that and instead of properly installing the ac unit they stuck a piece of partical wood over it like a little roof so the water would run off the wood instead of into my apartment which is just trashy work amd made my apartment look super ------. Also the wind blows right through the ac into the bedroom making it freezing at one point there was ice forming around the frame that holds the a.c. and coming down the walls literslly icicles in my bedroom and I asked them to put a cover over it and they kept saying they would but it never happened. I also have a newborn baby living in this apartment so that was especially concerning because there were times where it was too cold for me to sleep so we had to huddle in the other room with the furnace blasting. There is no closets to store cleaning supplies or blankets or anything at all so it's really easy to get cluttered and the dust is a serious problem it blows out of the vents and cling to the ceilings and there is nothing they can do about they say. I will say the people in the office have always been nice, I have been late on my rent and they worked with me because I'm usually on time. If you pay on time you don't get any fees or anything that I've seen some complaining about and maintenance has always came to make repairs in a timely fashion he just does a poor job and the emergency after hours guy is even worse. The neighbors are a mixture of crack heads and normal people but if you keep to yourself it's not a problem there is a police presence here that makes it a little uncomfortable they are always parked in one of the parking lots or driving around and I think they think that everyone here is a criminal because they are not nice. I was short on time and needed 2 bedrooms and a place that would allow my dog and this was the only place in my price range but I quickly regretted it if you can afford to live somewhere else I would and if you have to come here try to get a loft unit on the top floor because you wont have some of these problems. But I'm sure the poor construction and terrible craftsmanship will cause you problems no matter what you're in.
