A little less than a month after we moved out, we received a final bill for about $700. The bill had a notice on it that said it must be paid one month after move out date. This gave the three of us that lived together 3 days to pay the bill.
Thinking that the bill was a bit high, I called the office and asked them to explain the charges. The woman who answered the phone read the exact copy of the bill that I received back to me. There were several charges that I knew there were no problems with, so I asked for proof. She told me they didn't have any proof for any of the charges.
After that, I told her that without proof, I wouldn't pay the bill. She transferred me over to her manager, who told me that we needed to pay the bill. Again, I told her that without proof, the bill would not be paid. This went back and forth a few more times, until I told her that if she didn't produce proof I would be taking them to small claims court, and hung up. I haven't heard anything since.
This wasn't the only time they tried to scam us. We had a cat in our apartment, and they constantly tried to charge us for pet cleanup outside of the apartment. Twice our rent was marked late because the office didn't process the check. In my opinion this business is set up on preying on the people that don't know better or won't fight back
