The Aston at University Place

I write this review for University/College students considering living at The Aston. The Aston is a great place to live! Its just about smack-dab in the middle between campuses at UVU and BYU, and is a 90 second walk away from the UEA Bus Station with buses going either direction about every 15 minutes. It's across the street from movies, shopping, and dining at the University Mall! Costco is across the street as well. Lots of student job oppurtunities within walking distance! The hot tub is HUGE and open all year, and ammenities include clubhouse, theater room, and April-October swimming pool. The price isnt bad for a student IF you have roommates. If we you have four persons in a two bedroom apartment for example, you end up paying about the same or a little less than a shared room at Wolverine Crossing, about $200 less than a private room at Wolverine Crossing, and about $30-$50 dollars less than a private room at Alpine Village or the Village at South Campus. Washer/Dryer in the apartment! Lots of dogs around in a pet friendly setting! Strong walls block out most noisy neighbors, great for studying. Management is super friendly and knows you by name! Communication from management to tenants could do with some improvement. Recently I was moving to a new room in the complex after about seven months in my first apartment here. I paid $300 dollars to reserve the new apartment, and was given an AMAZING deal to have one month free... However, when it became time to get the ball rolling on the new place, the room that I had been promised and paid to reserve- a room with two master bedrooms- was no longer available. I instead had a room with one master and one regular bedroom. Whats worse- is this replacement apartment has Vivint Smart Home installed and actually costs an extra $150 per month that I really dont want to pay. (It's called the Media package, includes Vivint, Internet, and DirecTV, tho I will not be turning DirecTV on, otherwise I'd get even more bills directly from DirecTV). So in short, I'm paying a lot more in my rent- for features I don't want- becasue the room they promised me and I paid to reserve didn't end up being available. If communication can improve, this is THE BEST PLACE FOR STUDENTS to live, period! I've loved my time here, and would encourage anybody to live here!
