Resident 2017

Pros: IF you are into social gatherings there are a lot. Glenwood says that there are activities every Thursday and usually involve food. There is a pool and hot tub. The Lodge is free to use, its has a billiards table, a TV, and ping pong. There's not a lot of cleaning checks. The internet has been better than past years, since they have installed Google fiber. Whenever the internet isn't working I just restart the system and it usually works again. Service animals are allowed. The times that I have talked to the office about problems they have tried to help. The location is relatively close to BYU and UVU bus stops, close to the BYU football stadium. The Mormon wards are usually good with high attendance rates. Cons: To start off, I would like to point out that I lived in better apartments in little farming towns in Argentina. At Glenwood the pool and hot tub have way too much chemicals in them (I heard people got chemical burns). The rent and all of the other fees are expensive compared to the quality of the place. In these first two months that I have lived here I have paid over 900 dollars (not including the $200 deposit and other fess they charge when signing the lease). The walls are thin, so expect to hear people walking by outside and the cars ALL NIGHT LONG (it's next to major roads). You can also hear people walking on the floor above. The dishwashers don't clean anything, they are better used as drying racks. I am forced to pay for cable, but nobody in my apartment owns a TV. The only solution from management is to buy a TV. The laundry facilities provided are terrible. There are 6 washers and 6 dryers in each building. Most of the time over half are broken, so you need to fight against everyone else to wash your clothes or go to a laundry mat. It has happened many times to me that the laundry machines eat my quarters ( if you complain you can get a refund). It's tiring having the machines eat you money every time that you do laundry. There have been different instances that the machines have turned my white clothes black as well (and it wasn't my fault). And somehow it takes two months for Glenwood to get parts to fix the machines, or they wait for everything to be broken and get lots of complaints to fix them. The overall quality of the apartment isn't too good. The keypad on doors are missing buttons. Doors in the apartment don't close because the door or the door frame are deformed. There are some places in the floor where it's weak, so it bends downward when you step on it, giving the impression that the floor can cave in any moment. The fans sound like noisy dumpster trucks. I was in a room where the window has a hole in it (unfortunate in winter time) Overall, I'm sure there are better places to live - cheaper and better quality. I wouldn't even recommend an enemy to live here. I regret living here and I hope that other people don't make the same mistake I did. The social life here is OK if that is something you care about, but don't risk it. You might be put with BAD roommates (like ones that steal, get drunk, trash the apartment, make it their job to raise the electricity bill, have parties all night, etc...) Just don't live here.
