My husband and I were really excited to move in here, despite reading some negative feedback online. I figured only the worst cases would go to those lengths of posting a review online. I should have trusted them! We were ideal tenants--rent was not late even one time, we only called maintenance maybe one or two times, and for small things like replacing the public area hallway light bulb. Otherwise we would just fix things ourselves, or just deal with it. We never complained about the noise, even though we had a barking dog downstairs 24/7, and a couple next door who fought violently enough that I had to call 911 at one point. Each time we reluctantly resigned our lease, they added on at least $60 to our monthly rent. If you do decide (even after reading all these negative reviews), I highly suggest you sign the longest lease you can to avoid your rent from going up every 9-12 months. Also, be prepared for the summer months if you are on the top floor-- our power bill was $200 and it was a steady 80 degrees all summer long. When it finally came time to move out, we were under the impression both from our lease and the management staff that we would not have to pay anything in repainting fees since we were there for longer than 24 months. Yet we received a bill at our new address for a $50 "touch up painting". In addition, we were charged carpet cleaning, repair, and general apartment cleaning, even though we had a $150 refundable pet deposit, and I had spent hours cleaning that place til it was cleaner than when we moved in. We've tried calling multiple times to discuss these issues with no answer from management. This place is ridiculous. You do not feel valued in the slightest, and it is definitely one of the worst experiences I've had in customer service, hands down. I highly recommend staying away from Shadowbrook.
