We made an appointment to tour a 2 bedroom unit. No one answered the door when we arrived. Finally, after knocking several times and calling, a person told us through a mail slot to call a number. I then had to hand in ID through the mail slot without seeing the leasing staff to get a map to the unit we wanted to tour. I then had to come back and get my ID through the mail slot. The reason given for the mail slot escapade - the leasing office was short staffed. Really unprofessional. A bit scary not being able to see someone you hand your ID over to...the whole thing was extremely off putting.

It’s unfortunate to hear that you were unimpressed by the tour of our community. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional service, so it is disappointing that we fell short of that with you. Due to social distancing requirements, we are limiting the number of people in our office at one time, and we may have been working with someone else when you arrived. In the interest of not keeping you waiting, we offered the self-guided tour option. We understand that you spoke with our Regional Manager, Linda Bozzonetti, on the telephone on 10/25/21, and we hope all of your questions have been answered.

BE AWARE! Do not be like me and move to this community that is INFESTED with ROACHES, RATS and MICE. I didn't read the reviews and ended up moving out after only one month! I was told by the office when touring that they cannot allow anyone to move into an apartment with pest issues which was a LIE! I saw roaches my first night of living in the apartment. I informed the office and they acted as if it was there first time ever hearing of this issue which it isn't. I ended up running into the old tenant who lived in the apartment I moved into and he informed me that he had a mice and roach infestation as well. The office NEVER answers the phone and when you ask for the managers email they will say they can't give it to you but will forward the message. I myself am in this industry and would NEVER withhold the manager's contact information to a resident who pays rent. The maintenance team SUCKS! They take weeks to fix anything. I moved out only after a month of living here and nothing was fixed! Spend your money elsewhere and do… See More>

Continuous flooding of the basement, no adequate parking which makes it stressful especially if get home after 8pm and when it snows its worse because they don't remove the snow from the drive ways. Mice infested homes and incompetent staff .

Property Manager lacks of communication skills. Does not inform residents of anything other than you need to pay your rent. No power for the last 3 days and we haven’t received an email from the manager nor Dreyfuss to know when we should expect the power to be restored or what they have done in that regards. The office is closed and the emergency number is clueless about the power outage. We do get emails about paying our rent. If you place a work order expect to call 2-3 more times in order to get it fixed.

Ratville Townhomes is the proper name for this community. You will see them outside all times of the day. In addition, their little brothers live in your home "the mice". Also, parking is a nightmare, I repeat NIGHTMARE if you come home after 4pm you will have to park far away from your home. Lastly, the rental staff is very lazy and incompetent (Lonnie, and the "new" property manager)

I have lived at Brookville for two years. The townhouse itself is adequate; however, there are small things that constantly need fixing or repaired, such as: door hinges, bathroom fixtures, and A/C vents. The walls are thick; however, you can hear neighbors talking loudly or running up the stairs. Some ground floor windows do not have locks. The maintenance staff usually respond within 24 hours; however, we have had a few simple request take 4-5 days. They offer in-unit laundry but some homes have a European style machine that is a 2 in 1 washer/dryer. Laundry is never fully dried and it takes 5-6 hours for the full wash/dry cycle to be completed. When we moved in we requested to have a stackable washer/dryer and the onsite team agreed but our request was never honored. The homes are a bit older and have been updated. It appears when updating the homes, the team dry-walled over cable outlets, so it was difficult setting up our cable/internet with Comcast. Brookville allow satellites to be installed; however, the reception is spotty and unpredictable. We tried both and are more satisfied with Comcast. The parking onsite is challenging. In the winter, the maintenance team… See More>

The place looks nice on the outside however, at night you'll see huge rats playing hide and seek outside and little mice playing in your kitchen. Also, parking is a nightmare and the apartment homes are very old and falling apart. The "Awesome" property manager Brittney pretends to care but will not act on your request. Please don't move here if you don't have to!

This is the worst place to live. We moved to Brookville Townhomes back in March of 2015. Everything seemed really nice, spacious, nice neighbors, but it was a bit noisy being by a main road. First day of being there we saw roaches most likely from the previous owners because we didn't have any problems after cleaning the house. A year later we decided to depart from Brookville not because of the unprofessional staff but because honestly that's a place where you get what you pay for. If you want a nice place spend more money and don't fall for the specials! Also don't hesitate calling Brookville when it's time to move out for your security deposit because they won't bother trying to give it back to you. Just call Dreyfus corporate offices they will handle everything for you. The people that work for Brookville Townhomes are a bunch of unprofessional, lying individuals that aren't happy with there jobs. Please please don't move here!!

The Good: - Location, location, location! I loved how close we were to everything; shopping, work (I worked in Arlington), I-395 (very easy to get into DC from here), Metro stop, and a great park with a beautiful walking trail - I lived here with two other roommates to save money and I appreciated how flexible the staff was with us and how we paid the rent each month. We were allowed to bring in separate checks as opposed to one of us bearing the burden of writing one big check to pay the rent. They also didn't raise our rent after the first year - The grounds are very nice - Our unit had a basement and it was huge - it easily stored all of our extra stuff for three people - Hardwood floors - I felt that this was an overall safe area. I would still avoid using the walking trail after dark, and if you have a unit with a porch, be careful of leaving out items that can be easily stolen - theft was a fairly common occurrence from what i heard - Noise wasn't too bad. I could occasionally hear our neighbors through our walls, but it really depends on what… See More>

I've lived here 10 years this year. The property feels like a regular community, and doesn't scream 'rental'. The property management company is Dreyfus, and I've been told when I moved in, this was Mr. Dreyfus' very first property so it's not likely it's going to 'go condo', as other area properties have. Bottom line: I can go out the door and be at my office in DC in THIRTY MINUTES flat. It's FIFTEEN MINUTES to the National Mall on a weekend, or Friday evening to go out on the town. I am a 15 minute WALK to a library, a 24-hour CVS, and 25 minutes to walk to a Harris Teeter. I have 1100 square feet, with an attic, and plenty of parking for us and for guests, even on holidays. The common areas are clean and safe, there is a park and stream and jogging path at the end of the block, and my neighbors look out for each other. I like that you can paint the walls, finish out the basement (if your unit has one - not all do), and if you want, you can even install temporary walls (i.e., drywall partitions). Found a used condom in the washing machines, don't even get me started on the complete apathy the entire organization took to this issue. I moved out of the heap, just as soon as possible. Over priced, bad location, bad facilities, bad management. Stay as far away as you can.

Breath of fresh air! compared to all the apartments I have lived in Alexandria this is the best place and have lived here 8yrs and moved 6 times. The staff is super sweet I only hate that the office can get really busy every time I go in I have to wait a little to pay rent but other that that I really like it here. Every time I have friends over they can not believe I pay a little under $1700 for a townhome. My out of town guests love how close I am to DC and my neighbors are awesome. I live in one of the courtyards in Ripley and we gather around the fire pit have Barbeque and the majority of the neighbors are out at the time. Reminds me of growing up in my home town in Nevada. The only problem I have really ever had here in the past 2 years was my upstairs sink leaking a little and they fixed it right away. I would recommend this place to people who love a friendly neighborhood but don't mind paying a little more to be close to work. !

The basements leak, they have hugh cockroaches, and the staff have attitudes and are NOT friendly. Very unprofessional and the high rent is not worth headache. The walls are very thin, so you can hear your neighbors TV. They go up on your rent every year also. EVERY YEAR.....You have been warned. For the money they charge, you can probably rent a house with a yard.....The only reason I stayed so long was because I couldn't afford to move.

I have never seen problems with neighbors or problems with pest like I have in other places I lived in. My daughter and her husband also moved back to VA when they transferred from Ohio and moved in to a 2 bedroom and both really love this place too. My 13 yr old grandson is always playing by the creek and has never had any problems with safety. I liked that I am just 10 min from work (USPTO)and how close everything else is. I would especially recommend this place to young families and old timers like myself for the safety.

I have lived here for 5 years and unfortunately now have to move because my husband took a job in Texas and I am so sad to leave. My neighbors are super sweet and the girls in the office are friendly. I am going to miss the park and the creek that my kids love to play by.This place is so cute and the rent is cheap. Most of my neighbors work for the government and it's pretty quiet and safe. I would definitely recommend this place. Just as a tip though try to get a house with a basement cause they freaking huge, before I lived in the house I am now I had one with an attic and I am so glad I transferred to one with a basement definitely a better bang for your buck! DO NOT RENT HERE! The Brookeville Apts charge you for internal basic wear and tear for their units. Don't expect to get your deposit back, and expect to be nickel and dimed to death. The units are super small and the lay out provides limitations on how you can arrange your furniture. I have never been charged for a maintenance request in my 15yrs of rental history, except at the Brookeville. Not to mention the internal structural integrity of the units. One entire block of units is under construction now due to a fire.

My husband and I moved here from Kingstowne because we were expecting our second child but still not quite ready to buy. I find it affordable, livable and very child friendly. Our courtyard is filled with children, which is perfect for our oldest who is 3. The only issues we've had is a few bugs in the basement during the summer and we had a small leak, also in the basement, during a rainstorm. We called maintenance who was there within 24 hours and everything was fine. When recognizing that we live in the DMV we are definitely "getting what we pay for." Probably more. I saw a review that said her water bill was $200-$400 a month. To me, absurd. She must've showered 60 times a day. We have never paid more than $60 for our water bill in a month.
