Glebe House Apartments
Resident · 2007 - 2010
I've lived here just over three years and have had nothing but good experiences (barring one occasion out of anyone's hands). I would recommend this place to anyone interested in living in Northern Virginia, particularly in Alexandria. It's about a half hour walk to Old Town, a few blocks from the Del Ray neighborhood, and is nearby several fantastic restaurants. Not much of a club scene, but you wouldn't want to be in Virginia for that, anyway. The area is safe, but I'm a very large guy. I haven't seen too many creeps, for what that's worth. The rooms are terrific. Most of them have been renovated in the past few years, so there's little trouble on that front. The staff is great. Nearly every problem I've had in the time I've been here has been fixed in under 24 hours, and I've only seen one insect inside. (They sent an exterminator the next day.) This isn't the best place if you plan on going car-less. It's pretty easy to hop a bus to Pentagon, but its over two miles to the nearest Metro stop (National Airport/Braddock Road - Blue & Yellow Lines.) The resident lots fill quickly in the evening, but there is plenty of parking on the street if you're not home by 7. Glebe House is a steal. All utilities, cable, HBO, and free internet and wifi in a community room. There is an unadvertised deal with Comcast to provide internet to your apartment if you use your own hardware (Buy your own modem.) At least I think it's a deal, I plugged in a modem and got signal. Your mileage may vary. All of that and a 90 day membership to the YMCA for under $1000K a month.
