Glebe House Apartments
Resident · 2007 - 2010
My boyfriend and I have lived here for about 2 1/2 years. We were waiting for our old place to sell in Florida, so we needed a temporary place to live on a limited budget. Glebe House was inexpensive, extremely convenient, and all utilities were included. Bugs - NEVER saw one. Neighbors - NEVER heard them! I didn't see them much either. Safety - Neighborhood is what you could call "transitional". Definitely not the worst I've seen, but there were a few thefts. My boyfriend's bike was stolen, someone's tires were stolen off of their truck. I felt very safe walking down Glebe & the surrounding areas during the day, but at night felt the need to be a little more guarded. Many non-residents cut through the parking lot on foot, by car, or by bike to access Reed Ave (behing the complex). Convenience - A quick walk to Potomac Yard. Bus stops for the 10A, 10B, and DASH 10 are all a 5 min. walk or less. 10 min drive to Old Town, Pentagon City, or Shirlington. Upkeep - The staff tries to make this a nice place to live, despite the size. They plant attractive flowers in the spring, put up holiday decorations, and renovate vacant apartments. They even sent me a birthday card! Most of all, I have to commend the management staff. They have been nothing short of wonderful! They respond to maintence requests promptly. They will sign for your packages (I've lived in other complexes where you're on your own - nobody will sign for you). They are animal lovers and will pet sit for you! I always felt that my cat was safe in their hands while we were out of town or if they had to enter our unit for maintenance when we were at work. A recent as last week, they lent me a shovel and maintenance helped me dig out my car from the snow! I would recommend this place to someone who is new to the area, just out of school, or in need of a temporary place. We are moving because we need a larger place; if Glebe House had larger, 2 bedroom apartments with dishwashers, washer dryers, etc., we would stay longer. The biggest con is that the apartments are small. Studio and 1 bedroom. The pro? The staff. I will truly miss them!
