I've lived in a 2br 1bath in Crystal House I (there are two buildings) for almost a year, and really, it hasn't been that bad. I am probably moving out because my roomate situation is changing, but I would prefer to stay.

I don't know why people are saying the mgt. staff is so bad- I haven't had any problems with them, and when I am polite to them, they are polite and helpful to me. Maintenance request have been dealt with quickly, and one maintenance worker even fixed my toppled-over Christmas tree when he was fixing something else.

The apartments are spacious and well layed out, but they are older, and will inevitably have some problems (mostly with plumbing). Shower pressure is low, but I haven't had a problem with hot water. Laundry facilities are also hit-or-miss, especially with the dryers.

Noise within the building isn't bad, but you can hear just about any noise going on outside- from cars coming in to fire trucks to drunken kids being obnoxious. Parking has gotten progressively worse as well.

All in all, it's not perfect, but I don't mind calling it home. And, it's in a really great and vibrant area. As a young female, I have felt very safe here, but I don't use the metro and I hear walking under the underpass to get to the building can be a bit sketchy at night.
