Dorchester Apartments aren't perfect, but I have been very happy with my apartment since moving in four months ago. The rent is very reasonable for such a good location (not right along a metro line, but on Columbia Pike with the great bus service and close enough to Pentagon City that one could walk if necessary). The buildings are fairly old, which has both disadvantages and advantages. We have had a couple leaks, but they were adequately taken care of. On the plus side, older buildings tend to have more solid construction, which in part means that we can't hear our neighbors. In addition to the leaks, we have had some other maintenance concerns. One problem was that our dishwasher stopped working. Right away, the dishwasher was replaced (I believe this was on the next business day). I would prefer having in-unit washers and dryers, but I am at least glad to have fairly new machines in the laundry room. The place isn't anything super-fancy, but I like not having to pay for unnecessary frills. Overall, I think it's a great option.
