I lived in the Dorchester Garden Apartments (not the towers) for a year and a half and loved it! My husband and I had a 2 bedroom unit which was very spacious and for a one-time $10 fee, we rented storage in the laundry room. We were always able to find parking in the lot. We felt Very safe in the apartments and surrounding area to the point where we frequently walked around the neighborhood at night. Neighbors keep to themselves, but always gave a friendly hello when passing. We had a few neighbors that would have parties on the weekend, but they were always quiet after 10pm. Noise was heard from the living room, but never from the back of the apartments in the bedrooms. The staff was very friendly and were very attentive to all issues. Pest control came through the building about once every 3 months and they always let us know in advance when they would be coming to the apartment. The grounds were kept very clean. We never had any issues in with the management and always found Michael to be very friendly. When we moved out, we got our full deposit back within 30 days. We would definitely recommend the Dorchester Garden Apartments to other people. It was a great place to live and we love the area...we would definitely have stayed if we were in the DC area still. I was very nervous to move into the units in the beginning due to negative reviews, but we never experienced any of the issues others discussed. We found the Dorchester to be the best apartments for the space and price in the Columbia Pike area. Pros: -Apartments are spacious and clean (920 sq. ft. for a 2 bedroom) -Great neighborhood with access to all highways, bus routes, and metro -Pool was always clean -Friendly staff and management -We always felt safe -Apartment has large windows that allow lots of sunlight into the unit -No pet fee and utilities are included -Huge hallway closet for storage and the closets are large in the bedrooms -Air conditioning works great! Cons: -The kitchen is very small and does not have a lot of cupboard space -They increased rent from $1500/month to $1595/month for a 2 bedroom -The dryers were occasionally broken in the basement and there was no sign so you would lose money on the dryer ($1.75 for wash and $1.75 to dry- a little pricey) -The pool closes at 8pm
