We have two separate issues with Equity Residential. We have reported mice in our apartment on 5 different occasions. The first time they sent someone to patch a hole, but every time (except for the last) after that they only laid traps and did not attempt to address the root issue. I emailed the community manager personally and complained and he had them patch holes in our apartment. Likewise, our refrigerator has been broken for 9 days. The first time we reported it, the ticket was ignored until I called the emergency hotline. They sent someone out and said they defrosted the lines and fixed the issue, but our fridge was still broken. They did not attempt to verify that the fridge was actually fixed. Nothing else was done until I emailed the community manager to complain. They said they ordered a new fridge to replace ours, but we have not heard anything else and our fridge is still broken. We asked for our rent to be prorated for the days we have not had a working fridge and they flatly refused. We replied in an email but were ignored. We sent a follow up email and that was ignored too. We have had mice for three months now and our fridge has been broken for almost two weeks.
