Resident 2020

9/15/2020

DO NOT LIVE HERE! This apartment complex is a complete and utter dump and the company, Price Real Estate, is only interested in padding their pockets with no regard for the upkeep of their properties or the residents who live there. After living there for a year completing a master's degree, I've compiled a list of reasons why this complex is terrible. 1. There is no AC. But don't get your hopes up about opening your windows. See 3 for more details. 2. There are no amenities. The only "amenity" they offer is onsite laundry. But most of the machines were broken the entire year I lived there. They finally got around to replacing them around the time I moved out with machines that cost more money -- of course. 3. The windows are garbage. They probably haven't been updated since the place was built in the 1960s. The screens don't fit correctly in the windows and they have holes in them so you get an apartment full of bugs if you open the windows. And, fun fact, the painting and cleaning people leave the windows open for weeks after someone moves out so your first experience in the apartment is an abundance of bugs. The place also had a major issue with house centipedes despite having the exterminator spray. 4. The walls and flooring are paper thin, so if you're in a first floor unit, you get to listen to your upstairs neighbors stomping across the floor, moving things around, their conversations, their televisions and radios all hours of the day and night. Fantastic study and living environment... 5. Don't expect your maintenance requests to be met in a timely manner. I submitted multiple requests for single, simple issue and it took over 2 months for it to be fixed. I moved into the apartment in June and the maintenance man showed up at my unit in October with my move in sheet. I also had a friend that lived in the same complex whose stove was broken for months, despite having requested maintenance multiple times. 6. Parking spots aren't assigned and the parking lot isn't monitored. So everyone in the area acts like the complex is free parking on game days. If you leave your apartment, you'll have to park 2 buildings away or you may not even get to park at the complex because people who don't live there have taken all the spots. And they love to leave their cars parked there for weeks on end, in prime parking spots -- of course. 7. The woman who works in the office loves to make excuses for any issues you have and tries to push things off on you. She's pretty rude and acts like you're inconveniencing her when you need something addressed. A few months before I moved out, they decided to close the office. So now you can't even go to an onsite location to ask a question or request service. 8. The lease is a complete joke and is not enforced at all. There were no pets allowed in my building and my upstairs neighbor's boyfriend who basically lived there had a dog and the complex didn't care. 9. And finally, they will wrongfully take at least half of your security deposit when you move out and will drag their feet in returning the money to you. My security deposit was almost $900 and they only gave me $490 back. They stole almost $400 for "cleaning" and "painting" which is complete and utter bull. I left my unit cleaner than it was when I moved in and there was no damage to the walls, doors, or trim at all. It's basically legalized crime and I'm furious. I also didn't get my deposit back for almost 3 months after moving out. There is absolutely no reason for them to have kept my money for that long. If for some reason you still decide to move into this hell hole, you better take extensive pictures when you move in and when you move out so you can fight to get more of your deposit back. Seriously, DO NOT LIVE HERE. I would rate Apartment Heights 0 stars if I could. Price Real Estate is a greedy company who could care less that their properties are garbage and that a majority of their residents are students with not much money to begin with.
