Virginia Commons Apartments

I have been living in a 3 Bedroom apartment at VA Commons for approximately two years. My Wife and I will be leaving soon as we have found a house, but I will say my time at Virginia Commons has been nothing but pleasant. I will attempt to highlight the best I can. Cost: I pay just over $1500 rent, and compared to the apartments around, that is pretty dang good. I checked all of them out, and there were a few cheaper, but that is exactly it, they were cheaper in all areas. I honestly feel that I was not paying too much, and that apartment was worth the rent I paid. It was a 1000 square foot unit with a deck. Worth the cost in my opinion. Location: The location worked perfect for my family. I travelled opposite traffic every day so I never had to sit traffic. My wife did the same. In the afternoons, Rt. 1 would back up a little bit, but when you know your way around the area, it is not bad at all. We have very quick and easy access on to Interstate 95, route 234 and Route 1. There was a Super Walmart across the street, a Food Lion just down the road, and a super Target and Shoppers just 2 miles away. There are several restaurants within walking distance which was very convenient. Being close to route 1 was not always the greatest thing, but the complex is far enough away from route 1 that you could not hear the cars, just the occasional fire truck. If traffic bothers you, then this area is not for you, nor is any other part of northern Virginia. That is just something that comes with the territory, but it was not that bad. But knowing that, this area is good, because as I listed, there are several ways you can get around. Apartment itself: Fantastic overall. We had a 3 bedroom, two bathroom unit that served all of our needs. Each room had a very large closet that really helped out a lot. There was a bathroom attached to the master bedroom and a bathroom in the hallway. Both bathrooms had great water pressure and we never had any issue. The kitchen was great as well. Tons of cabinets and two pantry's were just a dream for us. The stove worked perfect and appeared to be brand new when we moved in. If it was not new, then it was kept in immaculate condition. The fridge was in great working condition as well. I know it was not new, but you would not be able to tell because it was also kept in great condition. The carpet was just fine. It was nothing to write home to mom about, but it was perfectly fine for us. It was simple and clean. Everything in the unit appeared to have been very well maintained by the staff. The last aspect was the bonus. The washer and dryer in the unit. Our washer and dryer was a side by side. I had been informed that some of the smaller units did have stacked washer and dryers, but be it that I was in the bigger place I can only speak on how great it was having a washer and dryer in our unit. I had checked with several places around, and there were not that many that offered in unit laundry. It really was a blessing not having to go down to a community laundry mat. Staff: The staff was extremely helpful and a pleasant group of people to deal with. There was not a massive staff, but it seemed to work just fine. Carmine is the general manager and is a really nice guy. He on many occasions went above and beyond to help me and my wife. Myra also worked in the office and was very helpful and courteous every time I walked in. Josh is the head of maintenance and you will be hard pressed to find a better person then him. Any problem I had in my unit was fixed in a very timely manner. Rarely did I ever wait longer than six hours to have something fixed. I never had a major problem, but that did not seem to matter. No matter how small my problem was, Josh always seemed to be right on it. There were two other gentleman that worked on the grounds, but I did not have much dealing with them. I was just very impressed that the staff was always courteous and help any time I walked into the office. Overall I am very pleased with my time at Virginia Commons and would recommend to anyone looking for a safe, friendly, and clean place to live.
