Resident 2017 - 2020

1/5/2021

I rented a condo From AAA Management Services, owner of is Dr. Amar Kumar. It was not a pleasant experience dealing with him as a landlord. I didn't have a lot of options when I needed a place for me and my kids to go after a divorce. This was a 3 bed in the area I needed for school. Anyway, like many on the other reviews I too had issues the entire time. First of all, I had to literally sue him to get more (not all) of my security deposit returned, I recommend the same to anyone else in this situation. He was charging me for a hole that was in the wall that existed before I moved in and I had told him about when I first moved in on the move-in checklist. If you do move here, ensure that you PUT EVERY LITTLE THING on the check-in sheet, becuase the inspection sheet when you move out is not the same. There was other damage that I was charged with that was there before, but I didn't add it to the sheet, because there wasn't a space for it - BE WARNED!! It was a faulty floor and paint. Allow me to explain another issue. In 2019, I went 8 weeks during the summer with no kitchen. The only thing I had access to was a fridge that they moved into the living room. There had always been a kind of raunchy smell in the kitchen and in the hallway - like a dank dungeon smell. Then around winter of 2018, I started having drain fly issues, not just one or two, I am talking hundreds! Of course, I reached out to the landlord and he sent someone to take a look. They couldn't find anything to tell where they were coming from. Then plumbers came to see if they were coming from the pipes - no drain flies, but there was another issue entirely with the drain in the shower, that was completely ignored by management. Anyway, months went by and I continued to complain. Then one day there was a hole in the kitchen in the wall above the sink. Someone came out and the entire wall just crumbled. It turns out that a neighbor 3 floors above had been leaking water to the bottom (I was on the ground level) for years! There was not only structural damage but black mold everywhere and sure enough drain flies. Long story short I had to stay there during the renovation. My neighbors upstairs who had a different landlord was put up in a hotel, until another condo unit became available. My landlord sent us $750 during this 8 week period to cover food to feed my family of 4; no other compensation. It was lousy to say the least. When the construction was complete, they painted the kitchen again and they used a different paint color than the rest of the apt, and they painted around pictures, so when I took them down, there was a big square left on the wall. I didn't repaint the entire area again, because that was not caused by me - and once again I was charged for it when I left. I will say for the most part, when there was a problem, because there were a lot - roaches, dryer broke, dishwasher broke, plumbing issues, drain flies, kitchen, probably more I can't remember; he would for the most part send someone out to fix the issue. In conclusion, if you have to live here take precautions. If you don't, move somewhere else.
