Resident ā€¢ 2018 - 2020

5/10/2020

I live in one of the "brand new" apartments. It seems as if when they built these new buildings, everything was an afterthought. No trash receptacles or dog waste stations were constructed for these buildings so we're all forced to use existing ones and now the trash is overflowing and dog poop abounds. This isn't a new problem. The new buildings have been occupied since the beginning of the year and yet instead of addressing these issues they've decided to build a playground on the far side of the complex (even though there's a playground very nearby), and what looks like a fire pit area behind the clubhouse. As for the apartment itself, I can say that it's really nice, if not completely functional. I'm an average sized person, not short by any means and the microwave is mounted so high up that my friends laugh when I have them over and I have to get a step ladder to get things out of the microwave. It's become a joke to them. And since the stove's vent fan is right underneath the microwave, its height makes it less effective. The laundry room as pictured on their website is nothing like the laundry room in reality. The washer/dryer unit is directly in front of the room's louvered door with tons of space behind it. The problem is that all that space can't be accessed because the opening to get to it is less than 9 inches wide. You could store brooms, mops, or other thin things there but nothing wider than the 9 inch opening--not laundry basket, not a vacuum, not cleaning supplies. And the louvered door lets a lot of noise escape, since it's next to the living room area it can be quite noisy. The walk-in closet's door swings inward. That means that if you have clothes hanging in the door's path they'll be knocked down or knocked off their hangers. The closet can become crowded, especially for two people, because you'll have to store things there that you would otherwise store in the laundry room. If you do decide to tour these "luxury" apartments, take a really good and thoughtful look at everything. I wish that I had. If I had the energy and the time, I'd pay to break my lease and move elsewhere.
