Resident 2015 - 2017

4/3/2017

It's got it's pros and cons. I've lived here for going on 3 years now, and a majority of the issues I've experienced haven't been "all the complex management" like other folks are stating. I've had zero problems with roaches (or waterbugs), despite being on an apartment that is on the creek behind the complex. Maintenance has always been pretty prompt, coming out within 24 hours to investigate the issue (and in one case replacing massive parts of my central air system). Sometimes they fix it the first time, sometimes it takes a few trips (like toilet that keeps running) before nailing down the exact issue... but they're always polite and friendly, and have never just barged in (especially when my car is parked in my space). I've never had a real problem with the office staff either. There are rules that are often ignored by some tenants (like not dumping furniture next to the dumpster, no driving through the complex with your car stereo cranked up so the bass is heard inside apartments, etc) even though they seem to be common sense rules, and I've seen many a tenant get mad at management for enforcing the clearly stated rules. There is a problem with trash in the parking lot / landscaping from time to time, but again. The maintenance staff tries to keep it cleaned up; it's just a problem of other tenants not respecting where they live enough to not throw garbage on the ground and keep going. I've also had no issue with crime, as that I've even accidentally left my car windows down all night while folks were outside partying and no one stole anything from my car. Noise is sometimes an issue, but that depends entirely on the tenant (my first year here was quiet with an upstairs neighbor, until their adult children started blasting the bass when the parents weren't home). Being in my bedroom and hearing the neighbors beside me or upstairs flush their toilet is sometimes annoying. However, it's not a resort hotel and of the places in Norfolk where you can rent a 2 bedroom apartment for 899 without meeting income restrictions.; it's been the safest for me and my child (who walks three blocks to and from the bus stop every day and has had zero issues doing so, along with other children who live in the complex).
