Resident 2007 - 2011

Not worth the rent - too high for what you get

I have to say that the staff here are wonderful, however the apartments are horrible. They are spacious but they are old, outdated, not insulated, impossible to heat/cool adequately or maintain a consistent temperature throughout, there are mold issues, windows that leak cold air and water, etc. I have had a ton of maintenance problems with my unit. These are attended to promptly but are recurring issues and quite bothersome. The utilities are sky high here my gas may run 30-40$ per billing cycle in summer but is well over 100$ in winter. The electricity is consistently over 100$ per month year round. The heat bill will even get over $200. Oddly enough there is a trash collection fee added to the water and sewer bill. Trash is picked up on the curb 2x per week but the wind will blow it everywhere and animals are always getting into it dragging it around. There are issues with automobile break ins and no warnings are posted for tenants here. It is also extremely noisy - there are many young people here who like to throw parties and behave disruptively when drunk in the common areas and parking lots. We even had someone firing a gun in the parking lot near my unit recently (again drunk people in parking lot). I also experience quite a bit of noise from 220 (main road) year round. Parking is a nightmare and you may be lucky to obtain a spot within eyesight of your unit. As per norm for parking lot situation - there will be dings and such from other cars, however I have had valve stem covers removed from tires on all our vehicles on several occasions. I have also caught unattended children playing on and around vehicles - even throwing metal cans at cars, balls around them, etc. There don't seem to enough parking spots for all the tenants and this is especially problematic when the college students are in class session and have their friends stay with them, have parties, etc. Many will simply take two spaces for whatever reason. Common facilities such as workout room and pool would be nicer if not over run with the party crowd and their friends. I have also heard people talk about using the facilities and not living there. The fitness center is a very tiny room with minimal old, outdated and poorly function items (1 treadmill, 1 elliptical, 1 stationary bike of the antique variety). The hours are limited for its use as well. This is not a good place for someone with allergies or health issues. Nor is it a good place if you keep early hours or like peace and quiet. The complex has gone through some major renovations such as water pipe replacement and paving - I have experienced several pipe water leaks since the pipe replacement. Tenants were displaced during this work - well you could stay in unit but no heat during day (done in winter), lots of dust and workers in/out, furniture had to be moved (mine for over a month) without any reimbursement or discount on rent. I have had minor loss/damage of personal items due to all the water leaks (pipes, wall/ceiling, windows). I have been here many years and it continues to go downhill sadly.
