Resident 2010 - 2011

11/27/2012

Avoid this place. It has a HORRIBLE reputation with people familiar with the property. Let s start with the grounds: Trash is running over in the dumpsters 6 days out of the week. I am going to hope the day they are emptied the trash is not visible and stinking up the property. I do not know what the problem is besides uncaring, uneducated, lousy residents who do not mind filth. I see cars drive by the trash area and hurl the bag of garbage off the top of their car towards the trash heap. They barely slow down and don t care they just spilled a bag of garbage all over the ground. Okay, the office staff: Part-time people who do not know what is going on, fulltime people who are so nice and friendly before we signed the lease, and overall nonchalant attitude. They do not keep their posted hours. Many times we left work to go pay the rent during their posted open hours and the door was locked. Surely all of the rental people could not be out showing apartments to the next suckers. One time I sat in my car waiting for an hour and twenty minutes just in case someone was coming back. No one ever did. The management company could surely hire staffs that are more competent. Next, the construction: the walls are paper thin, you can see clearly outside under and around the front door (we put up weather stripping), the sidewalks and stairways are disgusting. I know this is because of low-life residents but it is still nasty. The paint job in the apartment is pitiful. The toilet in our unit is in a dip in the floor or something. The floor is very weak. Reports to the office have fallen on deaf ears. The carpet is the cheapest grade and has to be made in China. Our vacuum cleaner sucks up a bag full every time we vacuum. The fibers are on every piece of furniture and on our clothes. The neighbors: The management needs to do some serious background checks on the people they rent to. Loud, rude, and trifling. We do not have children and really don t mind well behaved children playing outside but at 11:00 at night?! Children under the age of 20 who still live at home have no reason to be outside, hanging around, making noise, ringing doorbells and dashing, messing with cars that do not belong to them, throwing trash everywhere, two kids that could not be more than 13 or 14 were having sex in the laundry room when I walked in on them (no, they did not stop and looked at me like I was interrupting them), children sitting on the stairs blocking the entry to our apartment and refusing to move so I called the police (who did nothing to these mongrels but tell them to move. The brats disbursed and then came right back before the patrol car was out of the parking lot.) Not everyone in the complex receives government assistance for their rent. However, we found out that a lot of them do which means they do not work, continue to be pregnant, and do not supervise their children. I am not the babysitter and told a mother that as her child rode his bike around me as I tried to clean out my car. I asked him to leave because I was a stranger and I did not want him buzzing around. This child looked about 8 years old and did not know me. The boy rode into my car tire twice so I went to tell his mother to contain her child. The mother came to the door at 2:00 in the afternoon looking like I dragged her off the couch and her latest boyfriend who is surely not on the lease following close behind. I explained to the mother that I did not want her child to get hurt, I was very busy on my day off trying to get some chores done, and it would be better if her son went to play somewhere else because I was not going to keep an eye on him. I did not ask why the brat was not in school and why these two able bodied looking individuals were lounging around the apartment. The mother was offended immediately and told me I should not live in an apartment complex if I did not like children. The boyfriend chimed that the boy was just playing and I better leave them alone. I walked straight to the office and told them what happened. Two women were working. One kept shuffling papers ignoring me and the other said I should come back when the manager was there. I got in my car and left to clean out my car in a store parking lot up the street. Why should I have to deal with other people s kids and I be the one that has to leave HIM alone. I called six different times before I finally spoke to the so-called apartment manager. She told me to write down the incident which I did and give it to her. Nothing was ever done about those people. The girl having sex in the laundry room was the oldest sister of the boy bugging me with his bike. I reported that to the manager and she did nothing about it either. I reported different families to the Dept of Social Services for not watching their children, letting the children play in the parking lot unsupervised, children wandering outside late at night being nuisances, and if DSS ever did anything, I could not tell. We moved out of that place as soon as our lease expired. One small washer and dryer that looks like they would be in a home are in the building for 8 apartments to use. We went to the laundrymat because the washer and/or dryer would be broken down or someone's clothes were in there. But I never went in there again after walking in on two pre-teens having sex. Calling Villages at Garst Creek a city dump is insulting to a city dump!
