I have lived at Hilltop for about 5 years and I can honestly say that the property has really turned around. Drugs are a thing of the past thanks to heightened security measures and on site management. Not to mention, all of my maintenance needs are corrected/fixed to the standard that was set when I initially signed my lease and I really haven't had to use the maintenance to often. Yes, the units are small, however the price you pay for rent to live in the First Colonial/Laskin area definitely makes up for it. I referred my sister to live in this area because she was looking for a good quality, well maintained, manicured, cheap place to live near the highway and this is perfect place to fit all those needs. I would refer anyone to live here.

i live there with my boyfriend and his friend and we live in a 2 bedroom and i HATE IT , its small you cant fit nothing in your rooms and some of the houses dont have living rooms and the kitchen is small you harldy have places to put dishes , but i havnt lived there long so i dont know how the summer is with gunshots and drugs , but i do there is alot of kids in these as well , but i dont like wendy, she is very ubfriendly , and i dont like the fact they come in your hosse every month to look around , and i dont like they have to have a key to your house an if you change the locks then you have to give then a key and if you dont then if 50.00 dont get a place here , there are better places .....

Glad I got out when I did!

I lived there several years ago. It seemed decent enough for a 21yo girl striking out on her own (at least during the day... I never toured the place at night... so shame on me!) I didn't have much, which was good because the apartments are tiny even though I had a 2 bedroom. I signed a 1 year lease and I lasted there 7 months. I got the hell out because as soon as darkness fell I was scared to walk the short distance from my car to the apartment door! The parking lot was always crawling with riff-raff and drug dealers. The only positive? They allowed me to break my lease without any penalty once I told them how unsafe I felt! Can't beat that, lol. If you have NO choice... I guess it might be better than living on the street... but please - don't bring your kids here. It just isn't safe!

Don't even waste your time!! Run away!!

When my boyfriend and I split up, I didn't have a lot of money and wasn't making a lot of money so I decided to move into Hilltop South. What a huge mistake!! This apartment was so small. The living room was about the size of a normal person's bathroom. I had a two bedroom apartment but the size of each bedroom together would have equaled the size of a normal 1 bedroom. I lived here with my jack russell terrier and the women who lived below me always complained about the fact that the dog would bark when he needed to go outside. The laundry room was disgusting and hardly any of the washers worked. Delivery drivers would refuse to deliver to my apartment if it was anytime after 5! That's how dangerous this place is. The apartment complex that is in the same parking area has been on COPS!! I have also heard gunshots on numerous occasions! Plus, the jets are always flying over and the walls and windows shake like crazy!! This place is horrible and I would never recommend it in a million years! … See More>

                    No.. do not rent

My son went there the day before me. The office person rushed him out of the office not answering his questions and told him their was no apartment to view. I went today, got all my questions answered, and showed a one bedroom. Which has no living room, and is so small, that it looks like it can fit only a small child. I would not recommend to rent from them. If their customer service sucks like this, can you imagine how their maintenance service is. DO NOT RENT AGE DISCRIMINATION WAS FELT HERE.

                      SMALLLLLLLLLLLL

IF URE THINKING ABOUT GETTING A 1 BEDROOM. "DON'T". IT'S NOT EVEN WORTH IT. BELIEVE ME. THERE'S NO CLOSET SPACE, BARELY ANY KITCHEN CABINETS, AND DON'T EVEN TRY TO FIT 2 PEOPLE IN THE BATHROOM. THE KITCHEN IS WAY BIGGER THAN THE BEDROOM. SO SMALL YOU CAN'T EVEN FIT NOTHING BIGGER THAN A SINGLE BED IN THERE. NO JOKE. AND IF YOUR THINKING ABOUT GETTING A 2 ROOM APARTMENT. MAKE SURE YOU ASK THEME IF IT HAS A LIVING ROOM, CAUSE NOT ALL THEM DO. AND THEY WON'T LET YOU KNOW UNTIL YOU ALREADY PUT THE DEPOSIT DOWN. AND THE PARKING. WELL MAKE SURE YOUR THERE BEFORE SEVEN, OR ELSE YOU GOTTA PARK NEXT TO THE TRASH. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST. YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING, AND I DO MEAN EVERYTHING. THE FLOOR'S CREEK EVERYWHERE, AND THE WALL'S ARE PAPER THIN. SO UNLESS YOU WHISPER DURING THE NIGHT, BE PREPAREDE TO HAVE A LETTER ON YOUR DOOR THE NEXT DAY FROM THE OFFICE SAYING. YOU EITHER HAVE 5 DAY'S TO START KEEPING THE NOISE DOWN, OR CONSIDER THIS YOUR 30 DAY NOTICE. IN YES IT IS THE CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE IN VIRGINIA BEACH. SO IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD NOTHING… See More>

                        SUPER SMALL!!!!!!!

First I have to start by warning everyone that these apartments are the smallest I have EVER seen! I have been living there for . When I finally saw the place (I was not offered a tour until I asked) I was so stunned by the fact that it doesn't have a living area that I didn't notice the rest of the apartment. When I signed the lease and had a good look around I cried! The 2 bedroom apartments are 400 square feet! I have had to sell off almost every thing I own. There are also serious issues with gnats/fruit flies. They are everywhere....no matter how clean you are. Amy (the apartment manager) is probably the only highlight of these apartments. Oh yeah! The noise.....the jets fly so close you have to hang anything on your wall really securely because the walls rattle. And they do that at all hours of the night! The laundry room is dirty and half of the machines work at any given time. And there are hordes of people hanging out in the parking lot most nights. I have also heard gun shots on many occasions from my neighborhood and the one behind… See More>
