What is there to say about Maple Bay Townhomes that has not been stated already? Everything seems nice and pretty upfront until time goes by and reality sets in. All the additional fees are brought to light after you commit to a lease. If you are in a jam and don't have a family to worry about, by all means, feel free to move in. In my opinion, Maple Bay is not an ideal location for a new family. I would have to say it was okay for the first five months of our first year living there. As time went on, the unit began to slowly fall apart. There was obivious water damage that was covered up before we moved in that got worse when hurricanes and severe rain storms hit the area. By the time my family vacated, there were severe cracks on the upstairs ceiling and walls. Our first neighbors had their unit bulgarized and we experienced two more sets of noisy neighbors after they left. There was a constant pest control problem throughout the entire community that didn't go away. There were two separate occasions when I had packages accepted by the leasing office I had no knowledge about that took 4-5 months for me to get notified that they were in the office. Another time I went to retrieve a fed ex for my spouse and was told it was not there even though I had a slip that said otherwise; the next day my spouse returned to double check and the box magically appeared. I always felt like I was playing musical parking spots every time I would return home. Paying for two parking spots when only one is assigned to the unit does not seem reasonable. I did not appreciate having to pay an additional month to month fee because I wanted to renew the lease for less than one year. I think that the same leasing options should be offered to potential and current residents. I also did not appreciate having to return two additional times to bring documents needed for renewing the lease. The staff should take responsibility and ensure that every employee is knowledgable on how to conduct business. It should not be the residents job to guess on what information is needed. Positives I can think of include close proximity to various shopping centers; the workout room was good and even better when a cleaning station was installed to clean the machines. During the last 6 months, the maintenance team was good, they fixed everything that I reported as damaged or broken to the best of their ability. The only thing that couldn't be fixed was the water damage from the leaky roof, but they did their best to patch it up. What made my experience a negative was the move out process. My spouse and I requested two times to have the final move out inspection conducted in our presence. The first time, my spouse was left waiting and told that no one was available for the inspection. A second final move out inspection was scheduled that I agreed to attend. After waiting an hour after the scheduled time, I was forced to drop off the keys without completing the inspection due to another no show. I think that if residents are held to the standard of not being late with rent or deadline to notify vacating, the staff should be held to the standard of keeping appointments. After recently logging into the residential portal, I am curious about the damages charges I see, which is exactly the reason we wanted to be there when the inspection took place. As of today, nothing has been recieved in the mail explaining the details to the damages we are being charged. Needless to say, I will be letting my spouse deal with that problem, I just want to be done with this community. I am so glad we have relocated back to our prior residence, we should have never left in the first place!
