Lovin' It

I've only lived in my apartment for a few weeks, but so far I haven't had one issue. The staff personnel are friendly, and the neighborhood is quiet. This has been quite the peaceful move for me. I love that I have my own parking space. I never have to worry where I will park.

The office staff were professional and always willing to help, I moved because I wanted to be closer to my job. Securtiy always did their rounds at night and the lawns care was done monthly. The location is centered between Malls (Greenbrier and Lynnhaven), Walmart and Target.

Not a Great Place to Live!

Stooped up toilets, downstairs neighbors partying until 3am several nights a week, security did nothing, fireplace not cleaned, "pro-rated water bills", management is fake nice. Would not recommend living here.

        a bit pricey

The only problems i had with this apartment were the bugs. We had a huge water bug problem with them crawling in through a crack in the door. Maintenance did however put a weather strip on the door which seemed to help greatly. We also had a big problem with ants on the porch, i never noticed them inside the apartment, but it would be hard to tell with the carpeting. We just bought our own spray and sprayed all of the porch which helped a lot.

Not a safe place to live. Crime infested area.

After six months of living here, my apartment was robbed. I say robbed, not burglarized because my daughter and I were in fact in the apartment when it happened. I just happen to be on the phone with my mom (in the upstairs bedroom) when it happened and I told her I was calling 911, and she hung up and called the front office to tell someone to come help me and the staff up front refused to come. After another six months of living there, right before our move out date, our car got broken into, and when I told the front office they acted surprised. Really? Oh and almost forgot, I was also a victim of credit card fraud while living here. And it's completely obvious that it was someone in the complex who stole my information because my card was only used in the shopping center right behind the complex. This area is infested with crime. You can look up the crime in this area by going to www.vbgov.com, then click on ePRO - electronic police reports online. Then click on Neighborhood Crime Reports, hit I agree, then under reporting period put in whatever dates you… See More>

Highly recommended! Very professional and caring staff.

I'm in to my second year at Royal Pointe and I'm planning on renewing for a third! The price is just right for the convenience. It is located within a mile of the expressway. It is within walking distance of Harris Teeter and WaWa, which are both open 24 hours! I've never had any issues with maintenance, Phil the supervisor is very friendly and arrives within a day or two to fix anything. The grounds are kept clean and the office staff are always smiling. My apartment makes me happy to come home every evening. I especially love how the upstairs apartments have the stairs on the inside, so you can bring in your groceries to the landing to get out of the rain/cold, and then close your door before carrying them up the stairs. I have a family, and a small child, so living in the right place is very important to me. I have no regrets that I chose Royal Pointe to make as my home. I always recommend this community to all my family and friends! No apartment community is perfect, but the staff at Royal Pointe truly… See More>

              Great Atmosphere

I had lived in Royal Point for a year, and enjoyed my time. Maintenance was handled promptly and management staff was friendly and helpful. It was very quiet and calm, and never had noise concerns. I was a bit disappointed in the fitness center, as it was very small and out-dated.

                Misinformed!!!!

I have been living in royal pointe for almost a year. When I moved in the carpet looked old and felt as though it was wet and they just let it dry and didn't go over it with a vacuum to smooth out the hardness of the carpet. One thing that bothers me are the ducks-and although the look of the ducks and "duck crossing" gives the impression of safeness and innocence...those ducks will get on your nerves when they follow you because they believe you are going to the feed them. The wall material is chipped and will peel if you look at it wrong. At night the siding of the apartment is loose so when the wind blows it sounds like something is crawling in your walls-which make it hard to sleep at night. The ponds are disgusting and never clean so it is filled with algae which make it become a depreciation value of the property. I have come out to my car and seen that I have eggs on my windshield along with egg shells on my car also. The walls are so thin that if you put your volume on 6 your neighbors are beating… See More>

                  Love my apartment!

I have been here for 6 months or so now and I am extremely pleased with my choice! The staff is always super friendly and easy to talk to. Maintenance is also very nice and quick to fix anything that goes wrong. A few weeks ago our heat went out and someone was over within the hour to fix it. He needed to order the part so he brought over a nice space heater to tide us over until the next day. Later that day he found the part and fixed it while I was at work! I love the fountains which add a relaxing sound to the whole area. The 24 hour gym is perfect for my crazy hours to fit in a quick run! The location is so perfect! I can walk to Harris Teeter for a little fresh air and exercise because it is directly outside my front door. During the summer the pool is an excellent way to cool off and there's even a BBQ for the residents to use. This apartment is the best price for all the benefits, everyone should live here!

                    Waiting for Lease to End

As a current resident, my review of Royal Point Apartments is mixed. I enjoy the fact that the complex spaces seem quiet. I initially enjoyed the serenity the sounds the surrounding pond water spout provided me with. I still do, but after being here a month, someone has mischievously put some artificial blue coloring in the ponds to give it a ridiculous Willy Wonka candy factory effect. Also, the ponds have gradually been intruded with foreign particles e.g. plastic bags, trash, etc. without any attention from apartment personnel to rectify the untidy appearance. In addition to this, every time I step outside of my apartment, I have to walk very cautiously and nauseated because I need to make sure my next step isn't into a pile of duck, dog or cat feces. At first, the presence of the ducks are charming, but you'll soon find that they rapidly wear out their welcome. You'll observe that they begin to follow you around in belief that you will feed them, which is a no-no due to the fact that they'll next be waiting at your door waiting for their next meal. The apartments are roomy and prove to be fine, with the exception… See More>

                        Armed robbery, anyone?

The complex has typical problems like paper-thin walls, small kitchens, minimal windows, no parking, etc. - but there are much deeper problems with this place. My friend and I were robbed at gunpoint, and you can find more gunpoint testimonials in the other reviews. Both of my neighbors had police knocking down their doors, one of whom had a full-on raid. I guess if you're a criminal it's a good place because they obviously don't do background checks, and the management is so absent that you'll never be investigated unless it's by the police. Oh yeah, and maintenance came into our apartment and into my wife's bedroom while she was alone and in bed. He didn't seem to think that was a problem as he proceded to fix the bathroom and got annoyed when my wife objected. So, this place is a real winner!!

                          Horrible Place to Live

First of all, I believe the problem lies in management. We had constant problems with the management and maintence. The toilet clogged every week, once when we were sick. My husband is a plumber and did a better job fixing the toilet than the staff! I rented the apartment before I got married. After I added my husband to the lease, he was told he could not use the swimming pool when I was out of town for business! The parking situation was abismal and they do not have recycling services! The customer service was terrible! Beware of the odd flying ducks. Watch out for the passed-out drunken people by the dumpsters! Do not let them trick you... They are really nice at first. Once you sign the lease, you mean nothing to them. I know Virginia Beach is expensive, but do not go here...

I have experiance in Leasing and I know how things are supposed to be taken care of and how things are run. Let's just say this is one place that only cares about themselves and I have never seen them go out of there way at all to help anyone. If you must live here get on there good side early! The parking is terrible you only get one spot and mine isn't close to my home. We have ponds behind our home and they are usually broken or have a hose running to them that just looks tacky. They are also so loud your unable to open your windows and watch tv at the same time. The walls are thin and the power bill is terrible because there is no insulation around our front door so all the hot or cold air comes through. The side walks flood if it rains! And keep all your papers make sure you get copies of everything!!! Protect yourself!

                              Love it here!!

My husband and I have been living here alittle over a year now and we love it. The first few months we've lived here maintenance was slow but since they got new management, maintenace comes that day or the next one. Management is great. Their nice, helpful and try to work with you if you have a problem. We had one neighbor that would constantly play thier music really really loud all night and all we had to do is call Courtesy Patrol and they'll come and take care of it. Parking used to be kinda of annoying but since they have assigned parking it's alot better. I feel safe walking around the property at night, never had a problem. The gym and the laundry facility are 24hrs so that's a plus. So you want to workout at 3am you can. I would highly recommend Royal Point.

I lived at these apartments for a year...and it was the WORST year of my life!!! It was constant noise disturbances...the walls are thin, VERY thin. I could hear peoples conversations with no problem. Also, when I had REPEATED problems with neighbors and their VERY loud music until 4am NOTHING was done by management. There have been fights on the premises nothing was done NOTHING. I lost so much sleep that year that I do believe I'm still catching up on it. Run don't even THINK of renting here your better off staying in a cardboard box in the middle of the street than stay here...I think the cardboard box may be better sound insulated. Oh wait and don't get near a pond unless you really like mosquitos. They don't keep them in running order.

They were not sympathetic to our concerns about the saftey issues (lighting, parking, crime). When we tried to leave they got really nasty. Overall the place is crap, they dont care about the residents just the money you give them.

This place is horrible!!! I have only been a resident here for 6 months and already the place is falling apart. The railing along my stairs is coming apart form the wall, there was mold all over the bathrooms including the shower rods when I moved in because I wasn't aloud to view the actual apartment I was moving in to, so I didn't know the place looked as bad as it did. They have ducks that poop everywhere and they don't clean it up and the ducks are everywhere they even get bold enough to come in your house if the door is left open for even a half a second. the refridgerator was old and smelled, and the plastering is coming off the wall. I cannot wait until my lease is up. Oh yeah, and the bathrooms look more like little stalls. SAVE YOURSELF!! DON'T MOVE HERE.

                                          Don't Come Here

First off, these buildings are built very cheaply. The walls are paper thin and I could always here what my neighbor was saying in their apartment. Windows don't keep any of the noise outside. People can talk in a normal tone of voice and you can hear everything they say outside. Pond fountains are constantly breaking, allowing pond scum to form. Constantly have to be on the lookout for wolf, brown recluse, black widow spiders. FYI: Wolf spiders can get quite large. Ants are a constant problem no matter how clean your house is. Maintenance varies. There have been 4 maintenance managers here in 3 years (tell you anything?). Carpet is loose upstairs and the floors squeak badly upstairs. Not a big deal if you don't have children, but I do. Bathroom borders are just flat out ugly. Upstairs linen closet is basically a hole in the wall with some wire shelves. There is no covering at the bottom of the closet (you can see the plywood that carpet normally covers). The rent is high and guess what? They even make you pay for the water and sewage now (even though the brochure says it is included). I have worked to hard for the money I have and I am sure everyone else has too. It is a shame we have to spend it on poor and lazy workmanship as this. I have never moved into an apartment I had to clean myself the day I walked in it. The place is so cheap they only have one cleaning lady.
