Resident 2013 - 2014

7/15/2014

Want to get burglarized? Or maybe you love never getting a good nights sleep because of inconsiderate neighbors and their loud cars? Then Royal Pointe Apartments may be for you! My girlfriend and I moved quite a distance across the state to try and make a better lives for ourselves. But, Virginia Beach in general hasn't been very kind to us... not only have we had a hard time securing jobs here, but our stay has been largely miserable, thanks to the caliber of people that live at Royal Pointe Apartments. The apartment managers obviously want to try to attract as many people to come and stay at their apartment complex as possible, but in doing this a lot of people slip the cracks... the kind of people you don't want living here. I have lost count of the amount of times I have had an almost sleepless night because of the noise level on a night. Other residents seem to think it's okay to pull up their vehicle in the parking lot at 12 midnight or 2am with music blasting, bass up, waking everyone up. Cars come and go constantly during the evening and throughout the night, almost all of them blaring music. It gets really old when you are constantly being woken up. So peace and quiet basically doesn't exist at Royal Pointe. Whats more, since we have lived here there has been a string of burglaries and/or attempted burglaries, where hoodlums are kicking in peoples doors during the night. It's pretty scary. This is the kind of place where you need to carry a gun. No use calling the police if someone is trying to kick your door in - they'll be inside your apartment long before the cops arrive. The local guard service is also totally useless. I have called them on many occasions about disturbances - half of the time they never show up, and when they do, they just do a quick drive around and then leave without actually seeking out the problems and dealing with them. An additional annoyance is that residents here don't seem to adhere to the speed limits or stop signs inside the complex, they just speed right through them 60% of the time, totally uncaring about the little child that might be around the corner or the skateboarder in the street. The apartments themselves are not inherently bad. Inside they are quite cozy and if you ever have any problems with appliances the maintenance team are spot on (10/10). It's just the quality of people that live here that seems to be the issue. Management don't seem all that helpful about tackling the crime or noise level here. "Call the guard service" is usually their answer. Yeah... the useless guard service. The answer is to address problems at their "root", not by calling somebody "after" something happens. Royal Pointe is very overpriced for what you get, and this year they are upping the rent prices considerably. If you are considering moving to Royal Pointe, do yourselves a favor: pick somewhere else. Better still, stay away from Virginia Beach as a whole. It's just not that great here.
