My husband and I moved in to Runaway before reading the reviews, big mistake. This was the worst place I have ever lived. Where to start; you pay multiple deposits to move in, upon arrival for move in the walls are covered in cracks and holes and too many prior attempts to slab filler and paint on them. The carpet was nice but its because they over charge you to clean it when you move out, when there is nothing wrong with it. There are geese everywhere which means geese poop everywhere and all along the side walk. The appliances are old and worthless, washed ruined clothes, and even if you washed your dishes by hand them put them in the dishwasher they came out dirty. At night the decks are swarmed with cockroaches. The a/c broke and maintenance couldn't get to it for 2 days in the hot summer, when they did they stuck a portable window one in that was too small so there were giant holes on both sides leading to outside we came home to find it and bugs in the apt.     I decided on Runaway based on the location. When I went to check the place out, seemed very nice and quit neighborhood. The day I got my keys is the day I found out more about the place. My main issue was the NO GRACE PERIOD for rent. Due on the 1st or you will get charged a late fee. I'm not military so I found this very difficult. Out of the 12 months I was there I had to pay an extra $99 10 months. I do not know one other apartment complex or renter's agreement that does not give a grace period. This was my first time ever renting and if the lady told me about this before the move in day then I would have NEVER moved in. Their vistor parking is a joke. No updated appliances. I came home one day to the water had been shut off, not one person notified the complex. I had to call maintance to make sure it wasnt my fault on a late payment. Best day EVER when I moved out.

      Paint over it, it's fixed!

      That's right, that is how they fix everything. We have needed a new roof for the entire time we have lived here and I have never once seen a roofing company and they just keep painting the ceiling of our apartment when we bring it up. The apartments are pretty outdated too, the kitchen and bathroom could be redone. And they charge you for everything, want a fireplace? That's twenty five dollars added to your rent, that bay window is another 20, every month.

        My husband and I moved here from another more expensive apartment complex in the area. It is VERY quiet, the only really loud noise I can hear is the waste management services coming to empty out the dumpsters weekly. I cannot hear my neighbors AT ALL. There is plenty of lighting outside along the walkways and leading up to my front door, but I hear gunshots all the time. There is a complimentary car wash station and one recycling bin for those who are eco conscious. There is a TON of parking, but there are creepy guys who look like they are strung out roaming the parking lot with cameras taking pictures of vehicles and checking stickers incessantly so they can tow someone. The staff is friendly and every service call I have ever put in was taken care of essentially the same day. The appliances are a old and don't work great, but hey they are apartment appliances. The layout of the apartment is a huge plus. It feels very roomy and comfortably fits all of our things.           Not a great place to say the least

          When I came to look at the apartments, the model's are really quiet lovely.The only problem is that they look nothing like the actual apartments. The 2 bedroom that we ended up renting looks 'dingy' to say the least. The carpet on the floors have the appearance of never being washed, and are this very strange off gray, almost brown kind of color. The kitchen area looks to have never been renovated what so ever. The newest appliance appears to be at least 15-20 years old, and when we moved in, quiet dirty.The balcony area is run down looking, with the paint peeling of the railings and the floor of the balcony is a serious splinter hazard, as the entirety of the patio is rough and uneven.Even the front door fails to be appealing, as they apparently 'used the wrong paint' and it peels off the door, causing your door to be at least 2 different colors.             If you're looking for a cheap place to say, here would be the place

            Previous response is VERY INCORRECT AND WRONG. You can here everything through the walls even below you. The stafff is friendly however not on top of work request or problem areas. Dog mess is all over, and although this is common for pet friendly apartments, management are not on top of this problem. Loud music from parked cars in the parking lot is unbearable!! Especially at the back by the car wash area. I still have an old stove and refridge. This property has the potential to be great however, their management team and staff needs to be more aware. Walking the property, days and evening to see what is going on is a MUST!!! I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone. For the money, you could be somewhere else where it's quiet, you don't listen to POUNDING MUSIC (parked or driving through), and where you are not always stepping in dog poop.               Yes!

              I recommend these apartments. My husband and I have had a good experience living here. This complex is very dog friendly, which was a definite point in their favor. Our apartment is well priced, and everything is in working order. We hear nothing through the walls from our neighboring apartment, and have had our neighbors tell us they cannot hear our dog when he barks. So far we have had no problems with the staff. Security patrols the parking lot almost every night. I walk the dog late at night and early morning and feel safe. Most of the things I have seen other people complain about on here are not things that the apartment complex or their people have done, it's what other tenants have done. It is true that the tow trucks patrol the parking lot... so if you have visitors, make sure the spots they park in are clearly labeled "visitor." We ave only had to call maintenance twice in 2 years, and both times they were here within an hour. I recommend this complex!

                the name says it all RUN AWAY

                I lived here for a couple of years and it is in a really great location. Yes the interiors of the apartment could be updated but you do get what you pay for. I did appreciate the gym and tanning bed. The pond is really pretty and I've never had a problem with parking. The car wash center was very convenient and was only out of order once when I lived there. The maintenance guy was always helpful when I would see him driving the golf cart around and if I had a question about something. I get it, as humans, we are not perfect and as Americans we have the right to complain. I didn't especially have a problem living here it's just after the fact that really gets to me. I'm the kind of person that doesn't like to waste money and I really feel like I've lost money from these apartments.                   I came home from work today and the power was out for no reason. Unless I had a deathwish, I could have showered in the dark (I work outdoors and shower at the end of the day). Dom Power may be in charge of the power but the apt complex won't tell you about the above average # of power outages here. There is water, water everywhere in some of the visitors' parking and your guests could have to slog through several inches of water or even have to wait a day or so to retrieve their car. This is because the drain is clogged and the area close to Kentucky Ave. floods during most rainstorms so the water is very close to the doors and intake on some passenger cars. It is true that water bills are overpriced and due monthly as another person wrote in their review.                     STAY AWAY FROM HERE

                    This place is a complete joke! We lived here for 2 years and that reason is beacause I didnt want to keep moving my kids, we already move enough, we just put up with it but now that we're gone, man buddy! Where to start? I think its really funny that people keep going back to the water bill becasue I had asked the office staff to explain it to me so many times. The apartment itself it thin and very basic. I guess people live here so they dont have to do lawn or anything like that that goes along with an apartment. for $1049 you could damn near rent a small house or townhouse.                       Spare yourself the misery

                      Every person we know who left these apartments has not received their deposit back and been hit with additional charges for purported "damages". And if you have a pet, they will always find "pet urine" in the carpets, then charge you to replace the carpeting in the entire apartment. The staff are abysmal. The walls of the apartment are rotting to the point of structural insufficiency. Reporting problems with facilities, utilities, appliances, etc. is met with statements that nothing can be done about it because there is no money in the budget. And they bill you for the water, that is in the name of the apartment complex, using an inaccurate metering device attached only to the infeed to the hot water tank. They have some 3rd party company then apportion the total water bill to residence. An apartment is purported on their statement of deposit to have consumed a dollar amount of water in one month while unoccupied that was twice that of any month when occupied.

                        If the price is right i say YES!

                        if youre someone looking for something temporary (1-3 years) then from my experience of living at runaway bay for 2 years i would honestly say yes IF & only if theyre running a special for the apartment. I enjoyed my time at runaway bay. I NEVER had a problem with maintence or the staff what so ever. Some people are just so picky. This is an apartment not a home. The maintence came quick when i needed them, they did do everything in a timely fashion. the office staff is GREAT! i was always greeted and always had their undivided attention, which i greatly appreaciated. i would not pay full price for the apt though the appliances are VERY old! all in all i say yes. the complex is VERY safe. not once did i feel unsafe. the security ppl are ALWAYS strolling through the complex! make sure your visitors park in visitors parking because you will get towed. many people complain about that, but its easy to avoid that problem; just FOLLOW THE RULES! :)

                          These people are funny, funny people. You want to charge $1426.00????? $180.00 for a new set of vertical blinds????? You are out of your mind!!!!!!!                             Great place to live

                            I have been living in Runaway Bay for almost a year and a half, and have not had a single problem with the complex. It is a great place to live, and the housing and maintainence staff are very friendly and helpful with any requests or questions I have. The grounds are well kept, clean, and nicely landscaped, and the pool is great. The gym is nice and conveinently open all the time. In addition to that, they have a tanning bed that you can use for free too! I have no problem with finding a parking apot any time I come home. Compared to the other apartments in the area that I looked at, Runaway Bay outshines them all. I really don't understand how the other people that have written reviews on this site have had problems.

                              No!!!!!!!!!!!! Please dont!

                              I have been here a little over 3 months and am like the other person on here and trying to find some legal way to get out of my lease. This place is horrible minus the staff! I had a honest to god legit reason to pay rent on the 2nd, and the have NO grace period. I thought that was really wierd and I called around to other complexes and Woodshire right next door has till the 5th also, along with Columbus Station. So I had an insane amount of fees added to my rent. The parking is still atrocious!!!! Never have anywhere to park. Just take down those damn covered parking that a whole 4 people use. At least take them away from up front and on the side. The people I live around are disgusting with the dumpsters. Poeple just throw the trash anywhere and leave it.                                 Highly Satisfied Tenant

                                I lived at Runaway Bay for a year and I honestly had no complaints. Anytime I had a issue regarding the apartment the office offered assistance within that moment.They were very upfront with their expectations upon moving in and gave us proper notice of the upcoming water bills as the months progressed. Parking and noise were not an issue in my building, all of my neighbors were friendly, and the neighborhood was clean. I am not sure as to why so many bad reviews are on here, but my experience was far from that. If I was not relocating out of state I would definitely stay at Runaway Bay and refer this complex to my friends.

                                  To be honest I dont know why so many bad reviews. My family and I lived here off and on( from husbands deployments) for 4 years and rarely had any issues. Its quite, good location, and has a nice layout. The grounds are kept up very well and is nice to cookout by the scenic pond. The consultants are always very nice and professional. I would highly recommend to all.

                                    Right off the bat I noticed my apartment was probably redone in about 2 hours. Like a coat of paint and that's it. It stunk really bad. The dumpsters are. Always over flowing, rodents always by them. A lot of navy guys who party. I've complained so many times, I've even said things to them. Neighbors up top throw their cigarette butts in my yard at the bottom. Parking is not fun at all. Visitors walk so far as do I many nights. I get off late so I never have anywhere to park. My AC froze up and I don't even run it! (He appliances are really outdated and they should really look into getting new ones at least...is not remodeling the whole place. - personally think the rent is too high for such a small place.                                       Seeking a Legal Avenue to Break Lease!

                                      The size and layout of the apartment is acceptable compared to other local apartments. However the only thing that had been truly cleaned when I moved in were the carpets. I had to basically clean the apartment myself upon move in. The "patch" work that was done prior to move in was a joke. There was paint splatter everywhere, they attempted to repair two huge chips in the sink-leaving a basin that felt like super grit sandpaper. The laundry bifold doors look like someone went snow sledding on them; they were bent so badly out of shape they would not shut. All of these things were cosmetic and I have deemed them irrelevant compared to the insanity that I now endure at the hands of my upstairs neighbors. I am not ignorant and I do expect to hear normal apartment noise from time to time - but my upstairs neighbors are driving me insane!                                         No more Runaway Bay for me!

                                        Was the first apt we looked at after moving from my parents so it was exciting to us. Right across the street from them, located in the middle of everything, and looked really nice. The rent price is crazy for the actuall apartment. Everything is very basic, needs to be upgraded like NOW. Old dishwasher, washer, dryer, and stove. Landscaping is nice and kept up quit often. I have kids and there are lots of kids here, the bus stop is on near the 2nd entrance the the complex so. I had to drive every morning...only 1 stop. People above us constantly fighting, I know that not the apartments fault but other than that, noise was pretty good. They have no grace period, rent is due the first and THATS IT!                                           Never Again

                                          I lived at Runaway Bay for two years and the only pleasurable part was dealing with the upbeat, friendly leasing consultants. Visitor parking is horrid and the towing company is onsite several times a day looking into peoples cars "checking for decals." Apparently this place provides housing for students that attent ATI, and if you're lucky enough to live near a group of them, be prepared for parties, noise, and don't forget the smell of marijuana! The landscaping crew does a miraculous job around the property, and the maintenance tech for my building was decent. The dishwasher in my unit made the dishes dirtier than before they were put in and the washing machines are ridiculously old. Upon moveout I was billed for damage to the bathroom door that was not caused by anyone in my apartment. It was very easy to see that the door had been damaged by a prior tentant and the paint around the repair was starting to peel.                                             Love this place....

                                            I implore you to not listen to most of the incessant idiots that post the whiny drivel that tends to pervade this complaint site. Old appliances, dog fecal matter, car noise? Those things were not there when you leased the apartment I assume, the problems just magically appeared one night. I felt after reading the barely literate postings crying over the minute excrement that I felt obliged to post the truth about Runaway Bay. This website is entirely unfair in its set up of sample matter for an objective decision. I don t live there full time, the apartment I lease is for when I am in the area working. I can say I have had an apartment at Runaway Bay for over 8 years now and I know the office staff and the maintenance staff quite well. All of the staff are absolutely top notch and caring of what goes on in Runaway Bay. They are very quick to respond and to repair whatever is needed. The buildings and apartments are typical rental properties in this price range, nothing more, nothing less. I stay here because of the staff, the location and for the rental rate.

                                              This Place is a Nightmare

                                              The rent is too high for such a little apartment. The washer and dryer are old and barely work. The stove is old and the refrigerator made a funny noise which no one came to fix. The apartments are in a good location but the noise is out of control. The office staff is rude and unhelpful, you have to call several times to get a trouble ticket put in on anything that is broken. When I had maintenance come out and look at my faulty ac unit that leaked, instead of fixing it he said that it was set too high and the reason that my apartment never cooled off is because it was so hot outside. I left the apartment and got charged for a mailbox key that I returned and I never got my $35 back from returning the gym key that didn't work half the time. I had to go into the office to get it reset. I have lived in many different apartment complexes and this is by far the worse apartment I have ever lived.

                                                Too much noise too little action from mgmt - when's the lease up?

                                                It was fairly peaceful despite just one neighbor next door to me who likes to turn his music up loud. I put up with this for months until he got really bold and decided to strike up the band at 2:30 am (no exaggeration). I called security on him and luckily when they arrived at his door he was still going at it like he owned a nightclub. He has since stopped. Then came a new couple who started turning up their music and leaving their sliding door open to share it with all the neighbors in the building. They also came outside on their patio cussing, loudly laughing/talking, and at times screaming at all hours of the night. This caused me a lot of pain just as the guy did next door, because their patio is across from mine and I cannot escape the noise and cussing in my living room, kitchen, dining room, or bedroom.                                                   After 3 years, I'm glad to move out!

                                                  If I didn't have so many unresolved problems with maintenance, or the random fees I'm now fighting in court after move out, I would recommend this place. I liked my apartment and I was sad to leave, but everyone that has complained about maintenance on here is absolutely correct. My ceiling flooded as well and I asked for them to come out, they said they would and did not. The air conditioner ALWAYS broke and I was constantly told that 78 in my apartment when it was only 70 outside was normal. Only ONE person from maintenance would help me fix it and I would have to constantly put in a work order before they would have him come out. The garbage disposal was not working when I moved in and they come over to "reset" it. A week later, it broke again and I just gave up.
