I hate to even admit this, but I rented an apartment here for nearly 9(!) years. I guess I liked my unit just a little too much, which is a testament to this location and the overall quality of the management, and of course the unit itself. I never had a problem with the neighbors, and every one of them were pretty awesome. The only knock on this location was noise. There were two areas that need mentioning in regard to this: the first would be the floor boards, and you can definitely hear the people above you -- especially if they have kids. Secondly is the traffic from Main Street. It gets pretty busy sometimes and the ambulances/police/fire vehicles do take their toll during the summer when it gets hot and the windows are open (otherwise the windows do a great job of keeping out the sound).
But besides that, I never had a problem in near-decade length of stay there. The location couldn't be better, especially how Bellevue continues to grow and expand. You are a 10-minute walk from pretty much anything in Downtown Bellevue. This aspect really grows on you and you find yourself walking everywhere after a while. Also, I really enjoyed the mass of forest right outside on the south-side. Especially in the thick of summer, the view was more than worth the price of admission (even with the traffic noise).
I have seen some bad reviews for the management at Masins on this site and others. I personally have never had a problem, and the neighbors I knew never had a problem either. It's 2014: connect with the landlord. Get their cell and email. Every time I needed something done to my unit or if I had a question, I sent an email and I always had a reply within a day (usually sooner). Also, text messaging worked well for time-sensitive issues as well.
I probably would have stayed another 9 years if I didn't get tired of paying rent and not owning something. Masins on Main Street is a great location (and value) and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to rent and for a slightly-off-the-beaten-path location in Downtown Bellevue.
