I lived in a studio by myself a few years ago while I was an undergrad at Western. Everything was going well until I moved out at the end of my lease. The apartment was very cute and I was able to walk to WWU easily...but it is NOT worth it! I had put down a $400 damage deposit thinking that I would get all of it back because I am a very clean person and took very good care of the apartment. When I moved out the entire apartment looked like new because I had spent 3 days cleaning it from top to bottom (I really needed my deposit back!) They charged me $57.95 to fix my garbage disposal when it broke, accused me of breaking my rental agreement by housing my boyfriend (which I didnt even have a boyfriend at the time), and the worst charge of them all is a $370 fine for 'Refuse/Garbage/Trash Overage and Haul expense for 12 month time frame' which is absolutely ridiculous because I not only lived alone, but only produced enough trash to fill one grocery bag every week! The rest of my deposit was apparently non-refundable...so I received $0.00 of my deposit back. I tried to take them to small claims court, but It was impossible to serve them! DO NOT RENT HERE!
