Where do I begin...
1. Apt. wasn't ready when I moved in. Counter top veneer wasn't replaced, sealant between the foundation and edge-walls were not done until 10 days after I moved in (I couldn't unpack until then). Basically, I had difficult time settling in. However, maintenance crew did replace problematic items (i.e., washer) in a few days.
2. Apt was dark overall and throughout the day. The sun-light was hardly in the apt, because the way it was built on the hill. If you get a 1st floor apt, then you could kiss daylight goodbye.
3. Parking was OK during the daytime, but after 8pm, it was a nightmare to find a space.
4. Staff members (leasing office, maintenance crew) are friendly and nice ..... until you move out. You will not be able to talk to a manager or a director about a bill (cleaning-bill that they charge you after you move out, many times a tenant is surprised by the amount that they have to pay). So your problem remains unsolved. So I called NALS (www.nals.com -- a corporation that owns Heights) to solve Heights managerical problems -- we are still in the process. If this is not solved, I am going to BBB.
5. Cleaing-Bill... this ought to be outlawed straight. They charge you inordinate amount of money after you leave. But this problem goes beyond Heights apt. This happens almost every apartment complex in Federal Way (i.e., Glen Park, Stonehaven, etc). Also, the judgment of what is to be charged is so subjective that a tenant has no idea what or how much he/she is going to pay. A Mayor or someone of authority should look into these complaints and try to change it.

I moved out from Heights after staying only for two months and have paid a hefty penalty of breaking a lease (2 months rent). While I think, this was a high price to pay, but it gave me freedom from such joyless dwelling.

To be fair, as I mentioned earlier, office staff and maintenance crew were friendly and helpful. They kept their professionalism despite my complaints (though it was justified). But that is the only thing positive about the Heights.

If you are looking for a nice apt, try Lodge, or if you are able, purchase a condo nearby (Lakeland in Auburn).
