In the apparent arms race to see who can jack apartment rental prices up the highest on the Eastside, Chopaka is a breath of fresh air. The buildings are fairly old, but are well maintained. Pros: - Affordable rent - Walking distance to downtown Issaquah - Staff is very friendly - Building stays pretty warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. - Lots of guest parking throughout the complex (Not something very many Issaquah Apts can say) - Majority of the residents are friendly. Cons: - Some of the Residents seem to feel that they don't need to supervise their precious snowflakes -- Everyone knows that listening to children screaming at the top of their lungs every evening while spreading garbage and toys across the parking lot and landscaping is quite relaxing. Luckily the management has been very proactive about this issue and it seems to be calming down now. - Traffic on Newport way can occasionally be a challenge in the evenings, but the morning commute is quite nice. - There is a fire house next door (it's not active, they just do maintenance on the vehicles there now) so you will hear them testing the sirens now and then, but never too late or too early in the day. - If your neighbors walk heavily, and/or let their spring-loaded doors slam closed, you'll hear it, but that is kind of the nature of apartment living. Bottom line: It's a pretty good place to live. It's not perfect, but the staff seem to be working hard to fix the issues that do exist.
