My husband and I lived here for a year. For the most part, we had a pretty good experience. Our apartment was near the office which I think makes a big difference whether or not you're going to like these apartments. I think the further you get from the office, the worse noise and problems there are. Pros: The managers are super nice but unfortunately they just got a new lady in the office and I'd rather not deal with her but Dan is always nice and ready to help any way he can. Another pro: the maintenace crew is really fast. We had two maintenance issues, one being our washer/dryer and the crew was there the next day to fix it. The trick is to file the request through the website if you can, don't complain to the office. The apartments are big and our building was really quiet. There's always open parking available. The washer and dryer was very convenient. Cons: There is one AC wall unit and you can't have window units so the only area that stays cool in the summer is the living room and kitchen, and if you have an upstairs apartment like we did, you had to run it continuously through the day or it would get hot immediately because the vaulted ceilings. The apartments themselves need to be updated but everything worked just fine for us. There isn't much closet space for 2 people in the 1 bedroom units. The grounds are really boring. There's always dead grass spots and hardly any trees to cast any shade. And the worse con: they raised our rent every time our lease was up. By the time we left, our rent had gone from $610 to $695. The apartment is nice but it isn't worth paying close to $700 for a 1 bedroom. Luckily we found a 2 bedroom unit at another complex that is $20 cheaper than what we would have been paying here! And if you're intersted in a 2 bedroom unit at these apartments, you'll probably be looking at paying $850 for an upstairs unit with a washer/dryer but they are spacious I'll give 'em that. All in all, these are definitely not the worste apartments we've seen and if you absolutely can't find anywhere else decent and for a cheaper price and don't mind paying the amount at these apartments, The Highlander Apartments wouldn't be a bad place to call home. Just make sure you get a unit close to the front of the complex.
