Resident • 2014 - 2015
When I first saw the lay out of these apartments I was impressed. The apartment was spacious and the porch was big. Even though we were on the first floor we were located above the garage so we weren't on the ground floor. Lake Fenwick Park is beautiful and where Swiss Gables is located it makes you feel like you are in the wilderness. After living there for some time we realized it wasn't all that we thought it was.
First of all the bedrooms are all facing the walkway on each floor. No one has their blinds open because anyone can look and see what is in your bedroom when they walk by to get to their apartments. You feel like you are always in a dark room with no natural light.
Also my husband and I felt that we were really misled. We moved from a complex that can hold over 2500 people. We thought that this smaller community would be more connected and have a better community feel. We were told that there are community events that happen during the year, like a summer BBQ, holiday party, etc. The whole year we were there there was not one resident get together, party. We barely knew 3 or 4 of our neighbors. The place we moved from had activities going on through out the year. We knew more people and had a better community feel from that place than here. When I asked about it there was always an excuse as to why there wasn't any gatherings.
We were also told that there would be a gym built within a couple of months of our moving in. There was never any evidence that a gym was being built.
We had an issue with our kitchen sink. Throughout our years lease frequently our kitchen sink would fill up with laundry soap bubbles. I alerted the office and I was told over and over that they were working on it that it was the person right above me. Then later I was told that it wasn't them it was the person above them. The whole year it was one excuse after another with why it wasn't being fixed and so on.
I felt that I had to call the office multiple times to get stuff fixed. It seemed like it was never ending.
The play ground is super small and really not that much for the kids to do and there really isn't much to do when it comes to having no car. Not many places to walk to, the bus stop not nearby.
I really didn't feel it was all that safe either. There were frequent cars that were not supposed to be there. Overall this place was a huge disappointment. I am really surprised to see so many positive ratings.
